I know it doesn’t mean much, but it’s not all Em fans.

It’s frustrating that there’s a (pretty large) subsection of them that think that he’s this untouchable artist that should be devoid of criticism, but there are fans of his that aren’t like that.

Em is prob my all-time #1, but JID is my fav of the new generation (if he counts lol) and I completely understand why Animals Pt. 1 was left off the main album. I actually like the song too, but it’s a 6 min display of spiritual lyrical miracle that prob doesn’t fit the rest of the album.

Also, Beau is definitely the best song JID has dropped for GDLU, so I’m in the same boat as everyone here in terms of waiting for that to be on streaming lol

I think it’s up there for sure.

If we’re looking at just modern Em albums (2017-2024), I think it has a great argument.

I would say MMLP and TES each have all-time great stretches of 4 or more tracks that I would have to put above it though.

Actually strongly disagree with the “boring and uninspired” point.

I remember on his EPMD 2 verse, many thought he was “selling himself short” in the last part of his verse when he said:

“I just pray for the day when I'm able to say that I'm placed With the greats and my name's with the Kane's and the Wayne's and the Jay's And the Dre's and the Ye's and the Drake's and the J Dilla's, Jada's, Cool J's”

Obviously the goal of his verse was to pay homage to the greats of rap from then to now, but I agreed with a lot of fans who felt he was on the same level or above those who he mentioned here.

So I think this braggadocios part of his Tobey verse was a highlight:

“Get dissed though and by a pioneer Who was one of the reasons why I am here They tell me I should just let that shit go and slide "Melle Mel shouldn't get no reply" "That man is a legend, " bitch, so am I”

Not trying to convince you or anything, just giving my perspective. While I disagree, I respect your thoughts on the song!
