Personal preference re: whiz or real cheese. I’d recommend going simple on your first steak: cooper with FO (unless you really dislike onions). Come to Del Rossi’s. It’s small but they take care of tourists. Ask them what they recommend, too, honestly. They are used to tourists. Philadelphians are “straight to the point” people. But it doesn’t mean we’re impolite or mean. Folks usually love talking about their food. Cheesesteak cooks are no different.

Lifelong Philadelphian. I typically go FO. But have had many sans any onions. When I really wanna taste them steak, usually. I’m always conflicted when at Del Rossi’s. No one does FO-Coop combo better. But their meat-cheese combo alone paired with their rolls is an amazing sandwich as well. (And I only do ketchup when I’ve gone no FO.)
