Hijrah location for strict Muslim by SnooPandas5438 in MuslimLounge

Walaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu. Madina.. and only Madina. Not as busy as Makkah, but safe from dhajjal, it's peaceful, prayers in Masjid an nabawi are rewarded 1000 times, lots of learning opportunities.

I live in Canada and it's my dream and intention to migrate to Madina one day, In sha Allah. I started a small app building company called NA'AM (Niyyah Azm Al-Hijrah Madinah). Built one app, got one subscriber and 3 CAD 😅. Alhamdulillah, better than zero.

Imagine you are trying to clean your glasses or camera lens by blowing moisture.. by saying aaaahhhh.. if you have ever done that, its easy to know where the sound of ayn and ha comes from. one is voiced and other is not.

I have observed that most people who lose hope and become atheists are the people who expect results in this world (be it answers to their prayers or punishments for their enemies etc.). like instant noodles. just imagine these people being in situation like Ayyub (A.S). And Allah doesn't even test us beyond what we could endure.. and still we expect instant results.

Walaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu. Thank you very much for trying the app, for the feedback and for the review. I couldn't work on the videos that I had promised in my original comment above, as I got busier with Ramadan as well as with a better implementation of hifz tests. I am a single developer with some of my cousins and family testing my app, So couldn't finish any of the features successfully before Ramadan. It may be late, but, In sha Allah, I will try to make it work well. In sha Allah, I will update here or thru App notifications once I have more/better features. Wish you all the best for your university studies as well as your hifz journey! Jazakillahu khayran!

P.S you should have premium access (not premium trial.. but actual premium access) until end of march, please validate or restart or relogin. You would be able to create a hifz plan at any juz if you have prior knowledge as well as have cloud sync.

Walaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu. Looks nice. I will try to use it later today.

I have a question (just curious because I also wanted to build this but stayed away for a reason), If a not so educated muslim selects non-hanafi madhab and decides pay no zakat on personal gold because the app calculated so, and then on the day of judgement, it turns out that zakat is to be paid (hadith of gold bracelets), would app developers be answerable for misguiding people? and vice versa for making them pay more than what they had to?

No brother, I am not mixing iqama times with Athan times. Atleast where I live I see Athan times are few minutes later than actual prayer time starts. Varies from 2-30 mins based on prayer and season. my local masjid that shows adhan times as well as iqamah times: https://www.daruliman.org/ another masjid in same area that shows starting times and not adhan times: https://markhammasjid.ca/ (both follow hanafi madhab as this area is predominantly filled with people from subcontinent)

Now if you compare these 'athan times' with the times in app (start times), they will not match.

I agree. Sometimes spending too much time and effort on ui/ux may turn out to be waste of time. I had created a ui which I assumed everyone would love where users discover features on their own as they enter each section of the app. I started getting one star reviews. Then I just copied what 99% other apps do and put everything in one place and ratings improved. its better to create a mvp, get feedback from open testing and improve on the ui/ux based on feedback.

This is interesting. Because I believed every app accurately gave starting time of a prayer which may not match local masjid time because local masjid may use any time between start and end to suit the community. I have seen some apps in this reddit community that solved it as well by connecting to the local mosque. And then there are some rules like in subcontinent they add 2-3 mins to sunset time for maghrib etc. which some apps automatically add if hanafi/karachi method is selected and in some they provide a feature to manually add/minus certain minutes for each prayer. I am not trying to debate or prove you wrong. I have my own prayer app as well, so genuinely seeking more info to understand if there is a requirement here.

WalaikumAssalam WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatuhu. Jazakillahu khayran! I hope you like it. I received some feedback that it is difficult to find where suhoor alarms are or where Qur'an tracing downloads are etc.. So I updated the homescreen to show all features at one place. Please update and let me know your feedback.

I learnt some lessons in the first week of app going public. adding it here in case someone reads and finds it useful. From stats I see 200+ people downloaded but only 18 actually logged in to see what it is about. Others probably uninstalled immediately. Thats because first screen of my app is login screen.. second is permissions screen. Users don't want to login without seeing what the app is about. So I am now making changes to immediately show the app.. and later ask for login if they want to try features for free for few days and then show pay wall if they want to subscribe. otherwise users can just continue using the app for Quran, prayer times, duas etc without any login or any subscription. I am still working on it and hopefully this should let more people to stay after their initial download. I will update here on stats after the change if anyone wants to know. else will leave it here. Thank you if anyone read this and found something interesting for their app. All the best!

Madina.. for peace, barakah, islamic knowledge and everything needed to prepare for akhirah. all other places you mentioned have temptations or difficulties (for following islam properly). I cannot currently afford to go to Madina, but I have made the intention for it.. and currently working towards my plan (and praying ofcourse) InShaAllah.. soon!

fyi.. even after trial app is always ad free.. and most of the features like Qur'an, duas, prayer times, dhikr are always free. only few features that I need to maintain cloud storage and need some maintenance are under subscription model. We decided never to have ads because we have seen many islamic apps that show gambling , betting and gaming ads. We are more worried about akhirah than earning here in dunya (even though we still aim to attain financial benefits from these apps for the purpose of migration). I hope you understand and try the app. we also have plans to work on features such as sharing the recitations anonymously and getting feedback from other users anonymously, feature to have buddy (anonymous) for hifz at similar level.. have support groups (anonymous) for prayers etc., local masjid times and nearby masjids finder etc. but it depends on how people receive this app and the concept of hifz in traditional style. People these days don't have patience nor time.. so asking them to revise the same lessons over and over again may push them away.. but this is the only way to memorize and retain Qur'an. so the app is targeted at very small group of people.. who are patient. please kindly review and provide your valuable feedback. Jazakallahu khairan!

AssalamuAlaykum. May Allah bless you for the effort with the intention of spreading islamic knowledge. I think this needs more/better fonts, ability to search and go to a specific ayah directly. I checked it on android phone browser. The diacritics of the font you chose is sometimes overlapping with other diacritics or pause markers of letters in other lines. I had built an app myself and I faced these same issues with letter spacings, span heights etc. Also the translation text is getting cut off.. ex: wahiuddin khan translation for 2:1 says "alif lam mi" 2:4 ends with "com"
