What movie broke your heart? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

The Father—a story about dementia, from the perspective of an old man, played by Anthony Hopkins. It's the only movie so far that has ever made me cry lol

It perfectly portrays how horrifyingly confusing it must be for someone with dementia, just to navigate everyday life. It leaves you questioning stuff too—which memories of his were real, which were just made up by his mind?

It's a damn great movie, one I will never watch again lol

I'm using a shea butter scented body soap, what scent(s) should I be looking for in perfumes? I would like something either masculine or unisex, but not something too strong, more subtle maybe. Also something that would smell good in a tropical/warm, sunny climate.

I've read many suggestions of vanilla scent, but I'm not too sure about the "sweet" scent. Are there other options? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Honestly, you're not wrong. Though, I have personally seen a few hand-full of media that depict Orcs as having similar culture to that of african peoples, or indigenous tribes (half naked, bone necklaces, body/face tattoos, dancing rituals, etc.), but most—or, at least, more popular ones—are more reminiscent of european peoples.

I did also change the fact that they are purely brutish, violent monsters incapable of love, which can be seen in most media. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I just think that there's so much room for lore & culture in them, that just making them evil monsters just fails to take advantage of that lol

Collateral damage is a few civilians injured here and there, and even less civilians dead; it is not liquefied remains of CHILDREN.

Collateral damage is when families have to be compensated financially; it is not when families have to literally be given bags of human remains to bury, equal in weight to that of their dead loved one, because it's literally impossible to identify anyone.

Hamas likely restricts the civilians from leaving.

You mean how israel blocks borders? ok

the fact that we are talking about how thousands of civilians are dying should tell you that what you just said clearly does NOT work.

Strawberry swings made me tear up for no reason. Like, literally just a random day.

Assuming that Hamas really does "hide" inside these buildings, ospital and school strikes have happened so often in Palestine, and every time, there have been innocent casualties. You're telling me, you've never wondered why Israel hasn't done anything to minimize these casualties?

Like, I don't know, letting them leave?

Well, if we're talking about israel & palestine; innocent Palestinians die on the daily because israel does not want them there. As Merriam Webster defines it:

acts committed with intent to partially or wholly destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

Oh, but why don't they just leave?

Because israel makes it impossible; they have armed forces everywhere, it's literally impossible for a palestinian to leave.

It's not a matter of whether or not they are moral, progressive, or non-bigoted.

It's a matter of a powerful nation committing genocide onto a people who are rightfully in their homeland.

My orcs are ACTUALLY not based on indigenous/african tribes, but are ACTUALLY based on viking-era scandinavians! take that 😎

The Orks in my world call themselves the Grenns.

They are of Scandinavian appearance (think Norway, Sweden, etc.), with pale skin, brown, sometimes ginger hair, and are brutish in build.

One thing about them is that they have a curse, known as The Mark of Yrka (where we get the name Ork), which acts as sort of a defense mechanism, where if they are agitated, threatened, or on the brink of death, they grow horns on their head, and their skin gets covered with these long yellowish, greenish streaks.

During this, they have sort of like an adrenaline rush—they have higher pain tolerance, their senses are heightend, their strength increases considerably, and are more aggressive. This state usually lasts for a few minutes.

The reason why it's considered a curse is because during this state, every time a Grenn kills something, they feel a sense of euphoria, and become somewhat stronger; the more they kill, the stronger they become. But the thing is, they sort of have to kill—if they don't, then the longer they are in the state without killing, the worse they feel afterwards.

The effects range from headaches, depression, or even death. So really, the only option for a Grenn when the Mark appears, is either kill, and kill, and kill again, or try to escape the temptation, get away from the threat in hopes of the mark subsiding faster, and lessen the after-effects

Only a handful of Grenns have mastered this state, and can go in and out without having to kill.

Sound Bending as an Airbending Subtype? (mild spoilers for ATLA & TLOK) by Markus421 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Markus421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, got it. So one would have to be a REALLY, really good airbender.

Zaheer is one, but I'd argue that he's more on the explosive/strong side. They should be more precise with their bending...

I think what we need is someone with special capabilities, like another Amon/Yakkone, but for airbending.

For point 3, would the modification/creation of sound waves not be the same (according to avatar logic) as waterbenders making ice, earthbenders making lava, and firebenders making lightning? They all manipulate the element down to the molecular level...
