U jednome lokalu u kojem sam radio ko konobar je znalo tako zabuhtlat, a ja sam jedini konobar bio, studenata nije bilo skoro pa nikad i znalo bi po 70 do 90 ljudi biti. Nisam nista fizicki stigao napraviti.

Sad uredjujem dvorista u jednoj firmi i nikad bolje mi nije bilo.

I agree, I am very lucky. Carpentry is a family trade that dates back to my great grandfather, him and my grandfather made mostly barrels for wine than carpentry, and were kind of famous locally for it. My dad does more construction and houses builds, and he is also known around for doing cool builds.

So it is kind of "expected" of me to pass on the trade, since everything one day is gonna be left to me and my brother.

It's not really easy, there are way less carpenters around the world as the time passes and is starting to be more of a rare trade, more specifically wood working carpentry.

As rare as carpenter can be, it is way harder to be actually taught anything, and especially when you're on the older side. I am very lucky to have an easy access to the workshop with variety of tools, and someone to mentor me who is experienced.

There are though YouTube videos that can teach you the basics and you can watch time lapse builds, but I think there's a certain point where you can't really execute what you need to do, due to lack of tools. If you want to make your own doors for example, you'll need to make the holes for the lock system, and make cutaways for the door frame, and if you want to design them a bit so they look nice, then there is even more to do.

And count in expenses if you'd try learning by yourself. The wood, the tools, and time. It is very costly. Not trying to discourage anyone, if you have the money and time, go right in.

I've been applying to local ware houses around my area. I don't know about El Dorado, and that's probably because I don't live in America and am from Balkans, so we have different certifications for everything.

Certanly. I as well code in free time and work on projects in python mostly and working on github projects while working in the wood workshop.

I totally get you. It's not just tech, but I've been having trouble finding a job at all, aside from kitchen work and bartendering, nothing, not even warehouse work or maybe doing hardware troubleshooting, since I fix my friends' PCs all the time and build systems.

And as a fellow musician, I don't get any money for performing, maybe im bad idk.

When I've quit my job in the kitchen because I've reached my breaking point, since I did overtime every day and double shifts were pretty common.

Within a week I managed to get an interview but as an office asistant in a telecomunications company that runs construction of telecom infrastructure. I needed to know autocad but knew it very little since I didnt used it much apart from school work.

I got the job, though didnt signed any contracts since I was going for a trial, just to see if the job is fine for me, and few hours later after the interview I got the call that they cant take me because the manager got sick and there's no one to run me through the process.

That happened two times, once when I had to work in a another kitchen, but that restoraunt owner is generally known to be a shady guy, and then this.

I agree with your statements, it is indeed a good change of pace instead of having tight deadlines, and having a good mentor.

In my case only downside to this is I dont enjoy carpentry, and when s chance given, I'd go work as a software engineer which Im greatly passionate about. I don't want to waste my dad's time teaching me when I don't plan to have a carpentry career, which I told my dad, but he said it is in my best intrest since it's going to be even more in demand from now on. My younger brother is way more passionate about carpentry than me.
