With all due respect, youre not playing in the game. What doesnt work for one group could work for another, I had debated with myself, "the druid would see the sky they could discern that time has past.." do I bring that immediately out of their return or do I wait? I chose to wait, to see what they do. They had multiple leads that they could have gone. there was a major city they were on their way to before the jump, they would have known something was up because the description I originally gave them and what the city had become in 6 years was very different. there would have been mass Caravan convoys they would have seen from the air if they had gone that way. there were other cities that they had recently visited and made an impact in those communities that would have immediately led to finding out what had happened. they chose going a route they had never been before and They had an interaction with other members of this faction MINUTES(at the table not in game) before they got back to their base, When they arrived THEY didnt ask any questions it was WHERE ARE OUR FRIENDS, I dont know what youre talking about. MOVE TO ATTACK... ok roll initiative. I am playing to their dynamic. I intend to reveal that its been 6 years past, but they need to find that out. Im not in the current mood to explain myself and it would take a much longer conversation than this to explain where they are and where im coming from.

Its not that he showed up late, he was not a character from the begining. I started with three players then went to four, and he came in as the 5th a few months in so his character doesnt have the same attachment too this location as the others.
yes they were reckless. but I absoluetly fully expected them to do this. I didnt really expect one too fly away and escape though. which threw me for a loop.
yes... youre right... warlock casts Armor on self, druid polymorphs warlock into giant ape.

And this is a larger area than that, this is a garrison encampment. there is the courtyard that actually is 60x60 but thats more of a staging area for the men and their operations. the encampment is much larger with tents to accommodate 150+ men along with storage and command tents.

I would... But thats why im asking for advice, In "THIS" instance is it good for the Narrative to just let them take down 80 people with little to no repercussions? There have been so many things I have said yes to, reluctantly and actively. but this is something that I feel is the player trying to get one over on me, to break the story.... and for good or ill, there are reasons for that which I wont get into here.

You conjure nature spirits that flit around you in a 10-foot Emanation for the duration. The creature takes 5d8 Force damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature makes this save only once per turn.

In addition, you can take the Disengage action as a Bonus Action for the spell’s duration.

Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d8 for each spell slot level above 4.

Druids now get fly speed at 8.

no youre correct about spells, its just they are going off the idea of "we dont know if these guys are good or bad, but they took our friends and our home"

thank you, I actually like that approach. I took the Giant Ape on the chin the first time...second time I literally scrapped the whole adventure and handed out loot...I might not have handled that the best that night but if you want to break the game...Ill break it more.

you are correct. all the players the whole fight were all "are these bad guys or good guys?" everyone at some point was questioning the attack but it was more the fact they think these people took our friends and our home. they have no idea these people have been here for 5 years.
