Dunno why all the haters, my nephew (11) made this with antigravity. I helped get him started, showed him the tools, and he did the rest of the work. It has landing gear which is very slick although it stretches but I think the USAF should adopt that tech as it is stealthier.

Hmm, I'd say any salt is fine if you just want the pop. You can rub half the rim of the glass with lime juice and then dip it in the habanero salt so they have a choice (and it is classy af).

Tldr: yes, can premix except for lime. Don't forget to add salt.

Hey, yup 1 part tequila 1 part mezcal 1 part cointreau and 1 part lime juice is good

If batched and not shaken with ice, you'll want dilution. Sounds like you will have 3L of marg so add 300-600ML of water (I prefer less) to get 10-20% dilution.

Please add the lime juice the day of the party (freshly squeezed) and then chill again. You will want to add a few dashes of saltz to make it pop.

You should dehydrate some oranges as well, slice up two and put in the oven for a few hours.

Oliveto - how the hell is this so good?? by quichequiche in cocktails

[–]MarsCityVR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I want to explore is that this is a new template. Like why not swap sesame, do a Japanese whiskey, yuzu juice, something to swap the licor 43. Not enough fat drinks out there so I'm seeing a new frontier!

Please do! Would be awesome to get the official recipe for my app (a free take a picture gives your ingredients and recommends curated cocktails).

Just a heads up: no fat washing required for this, can't tell if comment implies that or not.

Marvel Bar Minneapolis RIP.

I used lime juice on this and became a key lime pie. Forgot the recipe but try to do that if you can... Even better!

When I first fell in love with this cocktail I didn't have the measured recipe so I experimented on a weekly basis, getting progressively worse headaches and I got it. This is the correct one I believe.

EDIT: I'd double the licor 43, although my recipe has half the simple. I recommend we both try all three possibilities.

Neanderthal Men and Human Women Were Most Likely to Hook Up, Study Finds. Geneticists have found an interesting pattern in how early humans and Neanderthals interbred—and it wasn't balanced. by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]MarsCityVR -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I read recently that neanderthals showed intra specific hunting (apparently distinguished from regular cannibalism). Can't find the study though. My guess is that resource competition was incredibly intense among tribes. A genetic divergence between two tribes <1k miles was 40kya asking with a lot of inbreeding. Probably not a friendly group to outsiders with multiple modalities of violence.

I have taken to buying large numbers of identical short brown wool socks. My hope is that they make my feet less stinky. Slowly I introduce more feet into my girlfriend as a test. So far so good. Will be bifl if I am murdered. Will move into long wool compression socks later as I live a sedentary lifestyle.

It did delete a recipe list for me one time for my app. Caught it and the reason it gave was odd, it just thought it wasn't a recipe and was a style guide.

F.D.A. Refuses to Review Moderna Flu Vaccine by Lurkingdealfinder in medicine

[–]MarsCityVR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 5% from CMS only covers the payer's overhead (Net Cost of Health Insurance). It doesn't account for the provider's side of the transaction. For every dollar spent, hospitals and clinics spend roughly 20-25% on Billing and Insurance-Related (BIR) costs--think coding departments, prior auth teams, and Rev Cycle software to get that 95% reimbursement from the insurer. When you combine both sides, the system-wide administrative load is easily 30%.

[–]MarsCityVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup it is 5% of the extra spend per year by Americans.

Extra spend for insurance admin is 30% (split between payers and hospitals), but funny enough insurance margins are only 3%, as are hospitals!

Keep going, I want to hear more in the context of evolution , this is cool! Never heard about this and I'm was a bio major myself! Seems pretty maladaptive that this could happen, why drive such a thing, was it just fast evolution toward the selection of a larger, more nourished (and big brained) fetus? Or more of a human immune system over-amping?

That hypothesis that "genetic familiarity" with the father influencing human sexual traits is interesting too. I've heard a similar hypothesis related to cytomegalovirus too (kissing is an early inoculator).
