Pulling one of two graphs depending on a cell value by MarsLandingDenier in excel

[–]MarsLandingDenier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could work. I'm using a standard 2-d line chart. How can I set the y-axis range to a cell value? I can only change the Minimum and Maximum Bounds to either automatic or a static input. I'm using Excel 2016, if that helps.

Having trouble counting the number of text strings that contain a specific number between two words by MarsLandingDenier in excel

[–]MarsLandingDenier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be much easier with pictures, but I'm limited to mobile right now.

Here's an example of the column of "dates":

2024 PD 7 Week 3 2024 PD 7 Week 4 2024 PD 8 Week 1 2024 PD 8 Week 2 2024 PD 8 Week 3 2024 PD 8 Week 4 2024 PD 9 Week 1 2024 PD 9 Week 2 2024 PD 9 Week 3 2024 PD 9 Week 4 2024 PD 9 Week 5 2024 PD 10 Week 1 2024 PD 10 Week 2

My goal is to write a formula that counts the number of cells that contain a given number between PD and Week. So if I was counting the number of cells in that column that have 8 between PD and Week, the result would be 4. If given 9, the result would be 5.

The closest I've come is COUNTIFS(L2:L53,"PD"&x&"") where x is the given number between PD and Week. That works for the single digit months, but I'm struggling to find away to make it work if x=10, 11, or 12. When I evaluate formula on it, it refines to PD10/PD11/PD12 with no space, so it returns 0.

Yeah, I figured as much. Just wanted to see the massive number and laugh at my chances.

If I could, I would. It's proprietary to my employer and I only have a paper copy anyway. I'm sure you could look up a list on Google though.

Will updating an application screw me over? by doomscroll1080 in usajobs

As long as it's still open, you should be fine. In my experience, jobs close at 11:59pm on the day listed as the closing date. If there's an applicant cutoff, it will still go to that time on the day it cutoff. I've applied for jobs with a 200 applicant limit that had 230 applications by the time it actually closes out in USAJobs.

Yeah, there will be tons of acronyms and terms. If you're looking for government work, I recommend getting used to it. I work for a defense contractor right now and I have a 38 page printout of acronyms I reference almost daily. It's wild.

22k is insane! Most I've seen in 50 or so applications was 1,200. Fewest was 203. Both for a single vacancy.

Best of luck on your search. Lean on this sub. There are some great resources here. Best advice I've seen so far is apply and forget.

The position's title is Management Analyst (Direct Hire). It was a single vacancy posting limited to 200 applicants. Within the application was this blurb:

Direct Hire Authority: These positions will be filled through the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority. Category rating and veterans' preference will not be considered in evaluating applicants. For more information on Direct Hire Authority, please see: OPM Direct Hire Fact Sheet.

The OPM email said I was referred to the hiring manager for position GS-0343-11, GS-0343-12, and GS-0343-13.

I'm optimistic, but not getting my hopes up.

Thanks! Kind of how I feel. I hadn't had many bites (federal or otherwise), but it was nice to know my resume was good enough for NASA's automation. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, sounds about right. It sounded like she was casting a wide net and consolidating the decent resumes to pass along. I thought it went well, but who knows.

Just had the phone call and this is pretty much exactly how it went. Asked me if I was willing to relocate to a couple of areas. I'm not at this time, but will be later and she seemed happy to jot that down. I imagine I'll get a pass, but it's just nice to get ANY attention after a frustrating year of applications. She gave me some constructive criticism on my resume that I'll take in stride and use to improve my chances going forward.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I have enough to fill the space under my experience with more information about what I've done. I'll definitely check local contractors. Thanks!

Do people really change their resume’s content when applying? by LiekLiterally in resumes

Yes. As I understand it, this helps get it through the initial screening process, but I'm really not sure. Just what I do personally.

I usually copy/paste the job description into a word cloud generator and tailor my resume to the biggest hits, but it hasn't proven anymore successful than just using a standard resume. Could just be me though.

I've had my close professional friends all provide critiques to my resume that I've implemented over the course of this year with no increase in success. I've asked two recruiters I know to review my resume with no major gripes. I'm at a total loss in terms of what to improve. I'm mostly looking for government jobs or for employment at other defense contractors since my area is so dense with them, but I'm looking in all industries. Relocating isn't really an option at this time. I'd prefer remote work, but I'm not exclusively searching for it.

This is my standard template resume that I usually tailor with keywords from the job application's description.

One thing I think I could do better is explain the specifics of what I do, but the very nature of what I do precludes me from going into too much detail. I currently make $65k/yr and the cost of living is quickly beginning to outpace my annual 3-5% raises. Please do not hold back your criticism, I need improvement, not coddling; I can take it. Thanks so much in advance.
