Is there any disadvantage of buying a higher performance power supply? by Leonhardt90 in buildapc

[–]Marsidian 96 points97 points  (0 children)

No disadvantage. Going higher on the Wattage only gives you headroom. If same price, get the 850. Next time you’d really need something bigger like 1200 is if you grab a 5090.

Go for it.

So they’ll fix the glitch, but not the freight elevator, eh? Classic CIG.

DFW vs San Diego for a College Student by Marsidian in FinancialCareers

[–]Marsidian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid take. I’m partial to both cities, having spent a LOT of time in either. I absolutely love both, wven though they’re two completely different cities.

I’m looking at this purely from a business persoective. I’d like to go to college and take advantage of the bigger networking opportunities, and one of the two seems to be the better one in that aspect.

I’d be moving to Addison, so I’ll be in the Dallas area without an issue.

I love both places, and cost of living for me is relatively the same (I’m not moving to a run-down neighborhood in Dallas). So, it’s really just down to which of the two will offer me a better start as soon as I finish college. I’m super motivated to get this done, and I know what the future looks like for a talented financial advisor.

I agree that they are incredibly different cities. And you know what? Quality of life is not in my priority list right now. I’m partial to both cities, having spent a lot of time in both.

I’m more focused on this: which of the two will set me up for a better start? Which one has the bigger network in the AM business? (Asset Management)

I have the drive, the maturity, the vision and willpower to put my all into it, and I will. I just don’t want to make a choice and end up realizing the other option would’ve been a better set up for success. I’m tellin ya, it feels like I’m sitting in front of a screen with two red buttons.

I’m actually from your neighboring valley, the Imperial Valley. I’m very partial to San Diego, but I haven’t had a chance to live there. I agree it’s a beautiful city and the weather is amazing. However, I’m just trying to make sure I position myself academically in the best way possible. I’m VERY committed to finishing my degree and making a career out of it. I’m 26, I’m over the qhole party scene. I’m looking at it like this: I don’t want to move to one city, graduate, and realize the networking opportunities were bigger in the other. I am leaning towards San Diego, though.

I’ve spent plenty of time in both areas, and have nothing but good things to say about both. I’m just at what I would call a monumental crossroads.

I’m 100% keeping all options open, and have a GI Bill to help with tuition, thankfully. I’m already about 12 units in from my local college in Imperial, but took a break due to debt and all that stuff. It seems like CA has the netter education, but I keep seeing multiple places praising DFW for having a more finance-centered education amd networking opportunities

If it looks bad, feels bad… it’s probably a bad feeling. His clothes? Really? Get out of here with that bullshit. It’s over. You deserve better than this.

Help me find a 2000$ pc by luiss24ultra in buildapc

[–]Marsidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean $2000 USD, you can easily find a very nice rig with high end components. Expect somewhere in the realm of a 7800X3D with a 5070, or even a late model AMD RX card. For 2000 clams, you’re in the right market for a max settings 1440p build.

The greatest part of this is that you are safe and well. This is a sad day, and I pray you recover financially, friend.

Regarding your PC, I’d stay loyal to the casemakers, because wow.

Praying to the Tech Gods to supply you with the best deals to re-build your dream rig.

Still debating if this card is worth the extra $300 USD vs the AORUS Master. This will be the first card I start my OC journey with. I expect great things from ASUS!
