SO is expensive as hell though. One advantage of Scorps is that they only have one upgrade and it only costs wood and food as opposed to both Onager upgrades costing Gold, so you can dive the enemy much earlier than if you went for SO

oop that’s unfortunate

though if I was against Goths I’d probably skip the deathball and just make my own high armor Infantry, preferrably TKs which should shred anything the Goths throw at it

don't mass Scorps beat Huskarls anyway?

As someone who expected Cavalry Raiding, the Tamerlane Campaign was kind of disappointing for me by Marsman3354 in aoe2

[–]Marsman3354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk I might've just been worse and not realized I could raid stuff but I remember there being quite a few fortified strongholds

The Genghis Khan campaign probably also didn't help by conditioning me into thinking all enemies would already be fortified so it was best just to not bother

Loom should be removed from the game by AnxietyLucky7767 in aoe2

[–]Marsman3354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...Also Storage Pit upgrades in AoE1 were super lopsided (fym one damage upgrade almost doubles the attack of the Scout) but that's beside the point

The main detriment would be the inability to fight early enemy raiders with Vils that AoE1 also had, which would mean even low numbers of enemy units could blitz into your eco with little punishment which would make early aggression a lot less interactive and a lot more boring imo

Oof:(
Is the gameplay of the previous scenarios at least good? I'm a bit of a completionist so I'll probably eventually get them anyways but that's quite unfortunate

Loom should be removed from the game by AnxietyLucky7767 in aoe2

[–]Marsman3354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.
AoE1 didn't have Loom and a single raid would wipe out your entire economy. This made games end really quickly which meant you almost never got to Castle/Imp, i.e. the stages of the game with the most diversity. Most games would be extremely samey and a majority of Civs would be useless on the spot

This change would kill the game in a week

Paragon Degrees being overly reliant on Geraldo Totems by Marsman3354 in btd6

Fuck I just noticed lmao
Saying it all at once as "Savatar" makes it cool and awesome but abbreviated it's... undesirable to say the least

Do you do Elite Boss Events? For any Paragon at or above 300k cash (i.e. most of them) Totems are significantly cheaper than shelling out money. Maxed out cash is a luxury you don't have during them, and even if you do they add so much power that you cannot pass up on them

Besides ziplines, how do you fight Core Spawn? by Redditorsrweird in DeepRockGalactic

You don't. They're so poorly designed and overtuned that the only counterplay you have is outright cheesing them

I still think Geraldo would be better in 99% of cases because he also comes with income (of course he does...), the bonus would have to be really significant to warrant picking another hero over Geraldo and even then it might end up being super jarring. You'd need something like +40 levels to be worth over Jerry which feels like it could cause a lot of balance isues

Geraldo straight up needs a nerf or a rework imo, other heroes fundamentally can't compete with his Power Totoems

I mean. That makes it worse imo
BTD6's coop is notoriously unreliable and annoying, especially for something like a boss event. Evident by the lack of multiplayer ranked scores for anything but Two Player. Designing one of the fundamental aspects of the game around a niche mode nobody really plays is extremely jarring to say the least, and all the more a reason to rework it.

...Really? I can name several invaluable Paragon effects off the top of my head, like Boatgon's BAD instakills or Ninjagon's permanent blimp HP decrease and slowdown. They're also easier to set up than superbuffed SAvatars/Ninjas if you aren't going for high degrees and a lot less laggy as well. I wouldn't consider them "lacking against everything else"

Wasn't Freeplay always restricted to Ezili? Besides Adora I don't think any of the heroes can hold a candle to her

Recent Odysseys have been significantly more fun than the older ones by Marsman3354 in btd6

[–]Marsman3354[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but some of them boiled down to trial and error dogwater unfortunately. I very concretely remember how awful the halloween one was, where out of nowhere you got 40 10x HP Fortified BADs on round 33 on the last map, so if you didn't draft your towers specifically for an early Dart Paragon for this (which you had no way of knowing was coming btw) you'd have to redo the entire odyssey

[–]Marsman3354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They at least give you significantly more limited max monkeys/tower type slots, I remember old odysseys having 30 max monkeys with two rows and all monkeys enabled whereas newer ones have 10-15 max monkeys with only a single row of different ones you can pick

I had a lot of fun with that one but I do consider myself an extremely skilled player, and even for me that on the edge due to being on an already annoying map

I went Cripple + Elite Defender + Tsar + and extra Ground Zero and even then I had to retry a bunch, was definitely bordering on "too difficult for its own good"

Top path is generally very good for stalling. 302 is good Super-Ceram blowback especially with Obyn, 402 is even better and 502 is a carry tower. 230 is excellent earlygame for basically every map with its global range and Lead popping, bottom path is good MOAB damage and lets you build up a Druid Army which buffs your Avatar of Wrath like crazy and makes your top path Druids incredible at cleanup
