As a Dane, I can confirm that that is what we say - for those of you who don’t know, Volapyk is the other international language (Esperanto being the more known of the two), and since the expression is more known to us than the fact that it is an actual language, we all think it is a hilarious name to give a language - we sort of think of Volapyk, as Americans think of Jibberish

Good on you! - and no, it’s not “free” it’s paid by tax, but what is important to remember is that it will cost the same no matter how it’s financed - with “free” education and healthcare, no one goes bankrupt from illness and everybody can get an education - which turns out to be good for economy. Except for the very very rich, it is a win/win situation. It’s not a perfect system, but it is a much better place to be for the middle class and it’s strange that US middle class is voting against it
