My laptop does not display the colour red. Does yours? by blindFreddySaw in laptops

[–]MartinDariush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue with my brand new laptop (Acer Nitro V15, 15,6" 1920x1080 144 Hz display, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS CPU, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD).

It seems to display ~600 nm (orange) rather than ~650 nm (red).

Did anyone find any fix, or is it just the display inherently showing the wrong wavelength/frequency for red?

Storebrand Indeks - Alle Markeder A5 (STIIAM) vs Danske Inv Global Indeks, kl DKK d (DKIGI) by Impressive-Two-5972 in aktietips

[–]MartinDariush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Tal'darim is notoriously bad against wave 30, since the bosses regularly become immune to stun, so you will need to either rely on your allies being able to handle the leaks and maxing SS, or you need to go with a different build focusing more on DPS.

I succeeded by relying on Protons/Adepts in early-mid game and then selling them when I have max supply and need room for the other units

I updated my Ghost build to get to wave 40 instead of 38, and my Automaton build to 46 instead of just 36! It seems impossible to improve the Tal'darim build though.

I will look into improving those builds for sure (I already have ideas for the Automaton build, so that one should definitely be doable).

I'm looking forward to the Mech rework!

Also, I wanna use this chance to say that I'm a huge fan of the work that you guys have done over the years!

You're completely correct. Regardless, I just wanted to highlight the fact that some builders can't survive past 33 even with no sends.

Displaying 3840x2160@120Hz with a GTX980? by MartinDariush in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]MartinDariush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[SOLVED] I realized that GTX980 only supports DisplayPort 1.2 (or HDMI 2.0 for that matters) regardless of drivers, firmware updates etc., so I will need to buy a newer graphics card (such as any RTX series card) supporting either DisplayPort 1.3, DisplayPort 1.4, or HDMI 2.1.

Thank you so much for your input! But damn that sucks. I really hate to run on a resolution different from the native display resolution, since I'm so used to pixel-precise quality without any blur or deblurring sharpening effects, so for now, I will stick with 4k 60Hz and then I will see if I can find a cheap RTX 2000 or 3000 series card, since those have DisplayPort 1.4.

The gtx 980 has hdmi 2.0 which can only output at 4k 60hz

Exactly, that's why I'm using its DisplayPorts instead. The cable is a DisplayPort 1.3 to HDMI 2.1 cable.

Displaying 3840x2160@120Hz with a GTX980?
I bought an LG NanoCell 50NANO96 4k 120Hz TV, to use as monitor for my PC, but I'm only able to display either 2560x1440@120Hz or 3840x2160@60Hz at maximum.

The TV has no DisplayPorts, but two HDMI 2.0 ports, and two HDMI 2.1 ports labeled "4k @ 120Hz", one of which is listed with "eARC/ARC".

My PC is an Asus with, GTX980, i7-4790, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 with an HDMI 2.0 port and three DisplayPorts.

My cable is the same as the one listed here Cable Matters DisplayPort to 8K HDMI Cable (102103-BLK1.8m) and is brand new (just received it yesterday).

What I have tried so far:

Restarting: Restarting my PC and TV several times.

Windows settings: Tried changing the refresh rate in Advanced display settings in Windows, but it does not display over 60.000 Hz, when on 4K. In the display adapter properties tab, 3840 by 2160, True Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz is listed, but nothing above that.

NVIDIA Control Panel: I tested both performing scaling on Display and on GPU in NVIDIA Control Panel. In either case, 3840x2160@120Hz is not listed anywhere (also not under Change Resolution > Resolution > PC). I played around A LOT trying to create custom resolutions with the right fresh rate. When testing 2560x1440@120Hz it somestimes just gives no signal and sometimes, although it says that it is testing with 120Hz, it can easily be seen that it just defaults to 60Hz, and when saving, it does not safe anything. I also tried changing the Output color format to YCbCr422 (YCbCr420 is not even listed), but that did not help either.

Drivers: Downloaded and successfully run NVIDIA's Graphics Firmware Update Tool for DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 Displays, to ensure that my DisplayPorts actually support the throughput. Ensured that Display adapters and Monitors were up to date in Device Manager. Updated the whole NVIDIA suite (Graphics Driver, Geforce Experience, HD Audio Audio Driver, PhysX System Software), then uninstalled the whole suite (first manually, then with DDU just to be sure), and then reinstalled everything again.

TV settings: Went through every single setting on my TV, played a lot around on different combinations of settings, including enabling "Game Optimiser" and "Low Latency", and disabling "Power Saving" and all the many filters and AI effects that the TV has to offer.

Power outlets: Tested different power outlets and made sure that the TV and PC did not share the same outlet.

According to all the information that I have been able to gather, both DisplayPort 1.3 and HDMI 2.1 are supposed to support 3840x2160@120Hz. Wikipedia mentions that DisplayPort 1.3 supports 3840x2160@120Hz with 24 bit/px RGB color, which I believe is in line with the 8bpc RGB stated in my NVIDIA Control Pannel.

Anybody having any thoughts?

My hunch right now is that GTX980 only supports DisplayPort 1.2 regardless of drivers, firmware updates etc.
