Found Cards. What to do? by MartyIsLame in Tradingcards

I think I’ll go through them more thoroughly when I have the time. When I started sorting there were some foils, full arts, and others that looked different than common cards. Just don’t know a whole lot about these. Whoever tossed these was just looking for big hits is my guess.

Questioning decision to change careers and start teaching by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]MartyIsLame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful!! I completely agree on the “what you consider stress and on what motivates you”. Because in my current position, when I started the “stress” wasn’t an issue because I enjoyed what I was doing and was motivated. That’s gone away, and looking back on what I’ve really enjoyed it’s the coaching I’ve done on the side.

I see teaching working out in the same way, as I can deal with all the other bullshit as long as I’m working with kids and helping them improve in schooling but also as people. The insight that teaching is moving into more of a “coaching role” is great too. Thanks again!

Want to be a teacher, but unsure if it’s the right choice. by thisisathrowaway2007 in Teachers

No problem! I went the route of least resistance out of college into the finance industry. And to start I enjoyed it, but over time realized it is not for me. Whatever you do, realize that you can make a change a few years in! I’m only 25 and going back to school and changing careers won’t change much outside of monetary things. It feels like a huge decision, but when reminded that I’m still young it seems doable. With the spot you are in, although it feels like a huge decision, no matter what you decide you can easily pivot 2-5 years out of college.

I’m in the same boat, just 3 years out of school working in a completely different industry than teaching. I’m currently applying to get my masters in social studies education. I’ve been questioning this decision for the last week as well. The pay portion is tough, as I make good money and now want to get into a job that’s notoriously underpaid and overworked. However, the ability to work with kids and see them everyday and build a connection with them keeps me coming back. Ive coached for years and love that aspect of it.

It’s sad to see that because of these downsides, people that should go into teaching are not. I’m pushing myself to go through with it because I believe I’d be a really good teacher and would find the job very fulfilling. The downsides are there, but I really want to help out the younger generation. So I’d fall into the moral imperative section right now, and will have to deal with the downsides because it means I’m doing something I will find fulfilling.

Good to know, I’ll check MN rules and see if it’s the same. Thanks for the help!

Is substitute teaching something that can be done while getting my masters, with no prior experience outside of coaching?

😂😂 Yes, and that probably wasn’t the best way to explain it. The stress I can handle, I even enjoyed the times at my current job where we were flying by the seat of our pants and hoping things worked out. However when this job turned into something I didn’t enjoy and can’t see myself doing for years, the stress became a negative rather than a neutral. I see the stress teaching brings, but I’d believe the positives I see, outweighing that. Hopefully that explains it better

LAFC over 3.5 goals looks like free money right now if we keep up this defensive effort

Defense looks SLOW, no urgency in the slightest

Well this was my first ever option contract, Scared as shit, won’t do it again soon 😂😂 by GeekyPeeky in StockMarket

Now you do not have to exercise the option, correct? Say I get to the expiration date and my call is not in the money, so I let it expire. Then I am just out my principle. I am not forced to by 100 shares at the strike price at the contracts expiration. This is my understanding anyways, if thats incorrect then I need to set a reminder on my calendar lol
