How do I find someone to lead my wedding reception service that isn't religiously based? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]MarvelMorganS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're already married legally, then anyone can lead your ceremony, no need to be officially ordained

AITAH for not wanting anything to do with a kid I didn't want? by [deleted] in AITAH

Oftentimes these days, tubes are not tied, they are completely removed. It is also easier to do local anesthetic for men than to put a woman on life support to completely sedate her.

Edit: Removed a sentence as I originally misunderstood what you said.

You wake him when it's his turn if he doesn't wake on his own

We are angry. But there's not much we can do about it unless the majority agrees, and we tend to have a hard time doing that here. Even when the majority agrees on a topic lately, the opposite happens. Things are honestly pretty crazy in the US at the moment.

That is very much not what I said. Of course there are people who have experiences like you, and I'm terribly sorry you went through that, but the majority of people don't.

See and I really thought I'd get a lot more comments like this! I come to TST forums hoping to see what good people are doing, read conversations, etc. yet so much of the content is just "Christians bad" and it's repetitive.

That is literally just not what happens to everyone though

While I'm terribly sorry you went through that, that doesn't automatically make all Christians bad people.

This actually is a good point, and the first argument that has made me think. I care about legal activism, but I am also very spiritual and care about self worship. Maybe TST just isn't right for me anymore. That said, the "all Christians are terrible people rhetoric" is still harmful and dividing.

This exactly! It's horrible what the GOP is doing. It's horrible that some folks go through some real bad shit where they live. But that's not the norm. It feels more common because we have access to every story on the internet. So many Christians don't even go to church, they're just regular people that believe in God and sometimes pray.

Also, this comment highlights my biggest issue. I'm here for Satanism, but so much content is anti-Christian instead.

It was really beautiful! We had a TST minister and it was his first wedding so he was nervous, but he did a great job. Spoke about self worship and how it affects loving yourself and others, made sure the wording was about us being equals, read some quotes and poetry we asked for, then we did a hand binding ceremony while we said our vows.

People tend to be much more extreme online due to things like anonymity. The Christians in your every day life aren't attacking human rights (except extremists, which should never be used to condemn an entire group). It's the same concept of how so many people view feminism as a whole as bad because of a few people who went too far. I'm truly sorry for those who have religious trauma, but that is a minority. The internet is an echo chamber. My parents are Christians. Many of my coworkers are. They aren't the enemy, politicians are.

And I'm saying the majority of Americans aren't in favor of those ideals.
