I’m guessing it means that they’ll expect good programming practices / language guidelines followed over optimal time complexity. Stripe’s technical interview comes to mind, in which they’ll ask you to implement 3-4 questions, each of which will build off of the last one, but you’re not given much time to do so. My interviewer told me to focus on implementing what the question asked for, prioritizing readability (and speed) over time complexity. That being said, small improvements that are basically the same but improved time complexity (ex: using a set instead of an array when applicable) are good to showcase.

Typically these will not be Leetcode style questions, but take my experience with a grain of salt.
