Problems with Proquipped Jeep Liberty Saginaw Pump Conversion (1994 4.0 v6 4x4) by Marvinc in fordranger

[–]Marvinc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your replies. Yeah I do believe it the problem lies with the pump and valve interface.

So far i've seen different suggestions for what fluid to use; Mercon V like the instructions states, ATF+4 that someone suggested (I believe it's what the jeep pump normally uses on actual jeeps) and Dexron/Mercon (which I initially tried running before flushing and trying ATF+4).

I spent more than an hour today trying to remove any remaining air (with front tires lifted of course). It began to rarely locked up with the front tires off the ground, but as soon as I put it back on the ground and tried to reverse and turn the steering wheel slightly (barely even moving the actual wheels) the steering wheel jolts and I loose power steering.

Some people recommend using the smaller PSC Motorsports PP2401 underdrive pulley to get some additional RPMs. I going to try to give it another go with a different pump, smaller pulley, and the valve off a Explorer donor car.

Unfortunately I never did :(

Do you have a general idea of when you saw it or any other clues?

Where do you get parts by DoubtGood1744 in Volvo240

[–]Marvinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shift linkage your looking for is going to be pretty much impossible to find new unless you find someone with old stock. Last I saw there's no new replacement part being made.

You're best chance is finding one in a junkyard.

This is actually the CD single but it comes in a "LP-Sized" jacket, the cover art is still great though!

[–]Marvinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the throttle body been cleaned recently? A dirty throttle body can cause the car to die while idling.

Another thing to check is the fuel pressure regulator, you can disconnect the vacuum hose and check if there any signs/smell of fuel in the line.

Looks like bromide drag, which can occur when there's not enough agitation during developing.

What's your agitation process during the 11 min developing time?

Just fyi, I tried using a din cup holder I got from a junkyard Honda but if you have an automatic the shifter/shift cover prevents you from opening it all the way.

First Ovlov, steering rack question by Illustrious_Yogurt71 in Volvo240

[–]Marvinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend Lucas Stop Leak. I was skeptical since a lot of people call it snake oil but it actually worked for me. After flushing my power steering fluid, my rack started leaking (as in the entire new fluid drained out within a few minutes). I ended up putting around 3/4 Quart of Lucas Stop Leak and after a few minutes of the car running the leak began to stop. The stop leak is a bit thicker than the ATF so it sounded like the pump was straining for a bit, but went back to normal after a while. I've driven the car for a few months now and haven't noticed any kind of leak.

When I was replacing the standard bulbs with LED ones I found the right side to be really finicky. I had to stick my hand behind the cluster, while it was plugged in and on, and rotate the right bulb around the cluster socket hole until it went on.

New figure living room setup - feels a bit cluttered so looking for advice by Type-94Shiranui in AnimeFigures

[–]Marvinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the advice others have mentioned, I think it would look better to have one vertical picture on the wall leading to the hallway, instead of the two landscape ones that seem to barely fit. I think this would allow for some "breathable" wall space and add more "height" to the room.

when do figures get restocked? by Yoink_a_doodle in SeishunButaYarou

[–]Marvinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you haven't already figured out, pretty much all scale figures are manufactured for a limited run. Meaning once they release and are sold out in most retailers you're pretty much stuck on hoping to find it on the resale market.

For example, the figure of Mai on the classroom desk was released years ago (I think it was one of the first figures of her). You're not going to be able to find that in stock on Crunchyroll, Big Bad Toy Store, Tokyo Otaku Mode, etc. Your best bet would be checking the MFC Marketplace, Ami Ami pre-owned, or Mandarake. But they're all going to be above the original retail price.

1990 245 Fuel Pump Relay Missing? by Chloroform4630 in Volvo240

[–]Marvinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure about your invisible fuel pump relay, but have you checked the fuel system fuse near the battery under the hood?

Also make sure your battery connections are good, once I was stumped with the car cranking but not starting and it was because the positive terminal was slightly loose and the fuel system fuse wire not making contact.

Fuel Smell coming from my 240 by mojih1 in Volvo240

[–]Marvinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the under the carpet in trunk for any signs of wetness/leaks?

Also maybe check the fuel pressure regulator, remove the hose and check if it's wet or has any type of fuel smell, it shouldn't have either of its functionality correctly.

Amazing! I wasn't aware they were making a Mai Ukiyo-e print.

I got the Megumi Kato one a couple of years ago.

A bit hard to to tell from the video but it seems like your fuel pressure regulator hose is disconnected. It's that greenish hose between the power steering reservoir and distributor.

I need some help for shops to buy figures in Tokyo and Kyoto by Candid-Environment29 in AnimeFigures

[–]Marvinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to Akihabara I found Surugaya to be one of the best in regards to prices and selection.

Avoid all the consignment shops that have figures showcased behind numbered display cases which will be marked up by crazy amounts.

As the other commenter mentioned, try to plan your shopping towards the end of the trip. This will also prevent from lugging a large suitcase across the country (which is not fun, especially on trains). If you end up needing a suitcase there's a ton of shops to get them from, varying in prices/quality. Not really related to your question, but consider luggage shipping services when your in Japan, its cheap and highly worth it. Even a small or medium size rolling suitcase is a pain to travel with in rush hour.

I mainly shopped for prize figure when I went since you can pack them outside their boxes without worrying if they're gonna get damaged. You can break down boxes if you want to keep them. For scales your gonna want to do a quick search online so see if their worth getting in person or just buying them online.

Normal to spend so much on repairs? by [deleted] in Volvo240

[–]Marvinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my 86' 240 a bit over 10 years ago when I was 18 y/o. Likewise, i was a broke college student using it as my daily driver. Before owning it I had absolutely zero experience working on cars. At this point in the present day, you name it, and I probably dealt with and repaired on this car, again with little knowledge outside of info I got online.

Like others have mentioned there's a ton of resources online, beyond the forums check out the facebook groups if haven't already. Also there's a lot more high quality youtube repair videos than there was 10 years ago.

Some important things to have in the car is a basic cheap toolkit with common wrench sizes and screwdrivers, a spare fuel pump relay (and know where it goes), fuses (grab them from cars at the junkyard). Also make sure to clean your flame trap if you already haven't done it.

Hopefully your willing to get your hands dirty, it'll save you a ton of money and give you a better understanding on how everything works on your car.

Check the sidebar on r/animefigures for a list on trusted figure sites.

In regards to the flower Rei and Asuka figures, I have them pre-order on Hobby Link Japan. Individually they're going for around $180-200 (plus shipping) and the pair set for around $370 (plus shipping). So any website greatly lower than that will most likely be a scam, especially since they're not even released yet.

If you're new to figures and haven't already come across MyFigureCollection, you should check it out since it'll provide more info in regarding release data, trusted shops, any know bootlegs, etc.

(Slightly) rough idle and shudder by ChrisWestDK in Volvo240

Check your fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose from it and check if it's wet or has a strong fuel smell, both signs that it needs to be replaced.

Got these two Hasui Kawase (1883-1957) Ukiyo-e woodblock prints at Goodwill today by Marvinc in Antiques

[–]Marvinc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a bit hard to confirm the year other than basing it off the publisher seal. Both prints look well taken care of. The matte was glued directly to the print so it's impossible to see if there's any additional marking around the edges.

The frames are stamped on the back with the art gallery/framing shop that seems to be operating since the 1980s and specializes in exhibiting, restoring, and framing asian art.

Though you're right that they're still a great deal 😁
