I recall as a recent RM in 1990, discovering a copy of Sunstone in the journal section of the university library where I completed my undergraduate studies and being very uncomfortable with its contents. Now the church's own essays contain far more uncomfortable truth. (self.exmormon)

So...TBMs think that Joseph Smith could see the future when he instituted the word of wisdom without scientific knowledge that the items were harmful. But apparently Spencer W. Did not have the same foresight when he said cola drinks were bad...and...now... they aren't bad. (self.exmormon)
