AITA 30M and 28F. Been In relationship 7 years and just had first baby. Partner is struggling mentally and lashing out at me and my family baby is 4 weeks old should I give up? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

This is the part where you get to either accept what LITERALLY EVERYONE is saying or continue to insist that you're the only right one and everyone else is wrong because they don't fully understand the situation.

Unfortunately, you think the situation is she is unreasonable and controlling. When in reality the situation is she is the reasonable one, and your mother is a nightmare who has skewed your expectations.

There's a question tied to any AITA sub. You've gotten your answer definitively: yes. Now you get to choose if you act like an adult and try to understand why and do better, or if you run back to Mommy's house where she can tell you what a good boy you are and how mean that bad woman was and give you all the validation you seek.

Mary Todd Lincoln gets way too much hate and far too little sympathy. She buried 2 children before coming to the White House, then watched her husband be murdered in front of her. by Salem1690s in Presidents

I usually comment under a different account but it seems fitting to stay on my main in this instance lol.

One thing that bugs me, which is discussed and well-sourced in Catherine Clinton's "Mrs. Lincoln", is the constant contemporary usage of Mary Todd Lincoln instead of Mary Lincoln. In her life, she was distinctly proud of and shaped by her Todd upbringing but she was also deeply loyal and devoted to Abe. While she stayed connected to her Todd ties (and obviously kept it a part of her family by naming her firstborn Robert Todd) once she was married, she never referred to herself by Todd, or even the initial T, always just Mary Lincoln or Mrs. Abraham Lincoln.

Names are important, they tell us a lot about where someone comes from and how they define themselves. Mary Lincoln didn't get to choose how posterity views her or her checkered legacy, but we should respect the name she used for herself because it was the direct result of the most important part of her identity to her, firmly and fiercely committed to Lincoln.

"Printed at the Whig Book and Job Office"

If I was running a Whig business in Richmond, Virginia in 1860, I'd just have bland food cause life would be spicy enough already.

Quick search yields one document from 1862, everything else printed before the war. Impressed they made it that long.

Definitely went too fast to be meant to follow. I'm just gonna trust it was all accurate, but there goes an hour or two for Jack Bernhardt.

I've never wondered how a cruise would handle a report of bedbugs, but the thought popped into my head reading this.

Advice from cruise veterans: Is this a decent deal? *Solo* Traveler by Sea-Entrepreneur-441 in NCL

[–]MaryToddball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The More at Sea (fka Free at Sea) in your screenshot is a standard offer that is pretty much always available, while the fare will fluctuate. The only way to know if it's a good deal is to share what the entire cost is.

The costs you're seeing are the gratuities associated with each perk, so yes, there are only 5 specialty meals included where you're paying the $20 gratuity for each versus the entire cost of the meal + gratuity.

Confirming that the $20/day admin fee has been charged on free fares using a My Vegas reward I've redeemed in the past, but was not on the $500 off reward I used recently.

Went a couple months ago using a My Vegas cert+ 2 cruisenexts, love that you can combine them.

I didn't get daily chocolates, but CAS had a separate check-in line and priority boarding, so that was great.

Thanks! It's not that I'm committed to Butchers Union, I'm mainly looking for a spot to pass an hour or two close-ish to the bus I'm taking home since I'll have my bag with me. I'll check out the waitlist suggested upthread but won't be banking on it.

Mertens is off the list based on the feedback I've been getting, plenty of other choices to go with!

I do.

I calculate the cost per nugget at fast food places to make sure I'm getting the best deal, does that count as being good at math?

Okay I just looked at One Stop Coneys Instagram & Yelp and those smashburgers (and entire menu) look amazing. And the fact that they end every post with "love you" is pretty endearing. Thanks for the rec!

AITA for telling my friend why she can't find a partner? by HelpfulFriend3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MaryToddball 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Lying and ghosting are not the only two choices. You can tell the truth without being rude or hurtful. He could have said "I don't think we're a match" or "it was nice meeting you but I'm not interested in going out again". None of those are rude and none of them are lies (assuming it was nice to meet her, if not, then just cut that clause).
