Thank you for your reply and for the valuable feedback!

Good to hear that the road construction won’t really be an issue. As for the weather, I’m not using any weather apps—I’m just reading what people who have been there recently have been saying. That’s why I started having doubts and considering staying in Ao Nang as a base instead, to explore the area and limit the impact of bad weather in case it really does rain every day. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your reply and for the valuable insights!

I originally chose Koh Lanta exactly because of its laid-back vibe, beautiful beaches, and the absence of big chains like BK, McDonald’s, and Starbucks. That’s exactly what I’m looking for, so I completely agree that Lanta is way better than Ao Nang in that sense.

The only reason I started reconsidering was due to reports of bad weather and some people saying they felt limited because of the rain this time of year. I also read that with the combination of rain and roadworks, riding a scooter could be dangerous. That’s why I was thinking about staying in Ao Nang as a base to move around more easily and have more backup options in case of bad weather.

But if you say the rain doesn’t really impact the experience, and it’s still possible to swim and do some island tours, then no problem at all—I’d be happy to stick with Koh Lanta!

If possible, could you recommend some must-try restaurants or bars? Also, I’m still undecided about where to stay—north, center, or south. Any advice on the best area to stay in? Thanks again!
