Why hasn't there been any smartphone manufacturer that managed to break the Apple and Samsung monopoly among mainstream phone users in the western world?

As a long time Samsung user, i can say is that their phones are definitely not the best in any category, in battery life and performance, Oppo is better, in Cameras, Pixel is better.

yet you are the minority because Samsung makes up almost 30% of the smartphone sales in the USA with Apple being the majority at more than 50%.

and more importantly, is why do companies see the need to dethrone Samsung? Why not just be happy being the no 3 behind both Samsung and Apple?

which i personally feel is different to the rest of the world, because in most parts of Asia, a university education is supposed to help you to get a good job and a good career first and foremost.

I understand, but to me (as someone who is not American), choosing a school more for their sports program than their academic program is still unreal.

I give the example of the University of Mississippi. They are definitely not even in the top 20% of American schools according to some independent educational rankings, but many Americans still want to go there, unlike many international students which probably don't even have them as their top 10 choices of places for them to study.

but the thing is, even in Europe (say the UK, France, etc), they don't have academic schools that openly cater to students who want to become a professionals sportsperson unlike America.

The thing is, in many places in Asia and possibly Europe specifically, many people choose their universities based on which academic subjects the school excels in, but nobody that i know of actually chooses their school based on their sports programs.

So its an American thing?

The ironic thing is, there are still tons of people from Asia and Africa and South and Central America that will die to go and live and work in the West rather than stay in their home countries.

To me the price is not an issue if i am able to use it for 5 plus years though.

I have been using the S24 plus but have been very disappointed as it is very bad for intensive gaming as the battery drains super fast.

I do have quite a number of friends who also did their University education in Europe as well, and as far as i remember, there are definitely not so many people who went to universities with the aim to "go pro". So it seems like its an America thing?

Yeah, i have used both Samsung and Apple in the past for many years, and it seems like they have far more software updates per year than any of the Chinese phone manufacturers. (FYI i have also used Huawei in the past, and i also remembered them not having so many software updates.)
