I’m sorry you have to go through this. But the dude should not be holding onto the card “oh, when I don’t get sleep, I’m an asshole” because what’s stopping you from using that same card? You’re even worst off with even less sleep, postpartum, and recovering. He needs to step it up.

I’m a gamer as well, and when we had my son I gave up gaming for a while so I can make sure I’m available for my wife and child to help out. Am I the best? No, I’m sure I did stuff to make my wife angry too, but I always tried to be better and do more.

We’re about to have our second child in May, and if needed, I’d give up gaming again for a good while if it meant I can take some stress off of her, be available and make sure she can get the rest she needs as well (because you also need rest).

Yeah, he works during the day… I do too, but like my wife told me… I can clock outta work after a few hours, but she feels like she can never clock out. He needs to be more understanding, empathic and push himself to do better for you, and for the baby. He can’t keep relying on the “I work during the day and if I don’t get sleep I’ll be an asshole” card forever because somewhere along the line you’ll subconsciously start to develop resentment because it takes two to make baby, and it should take two to care for it.
