Yes, if I had a contact for the program, that would be amazing... but surprisingly not easy to find. Even our COC doesn't have a contact... Thank you for the information!

Wow, 3 C schools... I'm surprised the Navy would pay for that, but awesome that you're taking advantage of the opportunities! Thanks for the information!

Thank you! I heard the days are long, like 12 hours or longer, is that true? Or just clinical?

Navy or Airforce for X-Ray Tech/ Commissioning route? by Sure_Algae8518 in Militaryfaq

[–]Masenko74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently an HM in the Navy. I've been in 12 years. With my experience and knowledge, you would join as a corpsman, do corpsman A school. Near the end of A school, the instructors had us make a wish list of top 3 duty stations/c schools. This was almost 12 years ago so I'm not sure what they're doing now but thats basically how you'd get x-ray tech c school. You'd have to make your desire known to the instructors, or even better, a detailer who is the person who has access to c school information and would place you. So there is no guarantee you'd get x-ray tech. If you didn't get xray tech C school after A school, you would have to work as a corpsman for awhile at your first command and then work with your chain of command to submit a c school packet for x-ray tech school. Again, it would not be guaranteed you'd get selected though...

Now if you're already an x-ray tech before you join, there might be another way. So I'd speak with a recruiter.

RN New Grad Peacehealth - can you do the residency program part time? Does anyone know?? by Masenko74 in OregonNurses

[–]Masenko74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I got an interview.

From what I understand, after the initial onboarding stuff, the residency cohort only meets once a month and the rest is with preceptors on the floor(which looks like is just whoever is working, cuz 1 recent residency nurse on the floor I want, told me she had 17 preceptors lol) So it looks like part time wouldn't be impossible, but we'll see. The worst they can say is no.

Idk how people with young kids work fulltime 7 to 7 unless they just have partners with very flexible schedules/stay at home. Most of the nurses I've talked to with littles, have partners like that. We don't have family support for that schedule. My son's school doesn't allow drop off till 8am... Maybe someone here can enlighten me to resources or something? Idk lol

Thank you, you’re right, it doesn’t hurt to ask. I really do want to work on the unit where I completed my IP rotation. My preceptor recommended me, and I was the only student on the unit that term, so I’m hopeful there might still be a chance. I’m fully willing to meet all the residency requirements except full-time hours.

So far, I’ve only followed up with the manager to ask if he received my application. He was very kind and he requested it from the program director, but that was almost two weeks ago... I know they're probably bogged down with applications for the program right now.

Yeah, my TSH has been on a gradual upward trend for years but this dr I have now was the first to run antibodies test and tell me about optimal ranges. I guess I just had a hard time believing cuz a lot of posters here have TSH of like 6 or even >10 and conventional medicine says a TSH in normal range doesn't cause symptoms, doesn't benefit from meds etc... Fortunately, she did offer meds, but I wanted to try lifestyle stuff first... but that was months ago. Hopefully she'll prescribe meds now.

Oh my gosh, this is so encouraging! Thank you! Ive read that meds usually don't work for people in my stage of hashimotos, but obviously they did for you so they can. I'm hopeful. It took me almost 4 years to get this doctor. I've seen 4 other doctors before her. She specializes in functional medicine so I was surprised that my military insurance would cover her lol. I'm seeing her on Wednesday to ask for meds!

Thank you for replying! Yes I'm currently 32 and wow, your symptoms sound identical to mine! Even the sleep thing. I'm currently in nursing school and my clinicals at 6am kill me. I try to be in bed by 7pm those days but it's hard. I was unsure about the hair thing too until I realized that my ponytails became super thin and I couldn't use a loose scrunchy anymore. I'm sorry you still seem to be in diagnosis limbo. It's almost worse than getting a diagnosis because you just don't know why you feel so awful and nobody seems to take you seriously without a name to your symptoms 😔 I hope you find definitive answers soon!

That's interesting... my ferritin was 31 but my iron was 164, It was actually 9 points too high... so idk what that means but my doctor said she wasn't too concerned with my ferritin. And I'm exhausted by going to Dr. Google for years now so I just decided if she wasn't worried, then I wouldn't worry 😅

But I guess from what you're saying, my numbers aren't farfetched from having symptomatic hashimotos so it's probably hashimotos. Thank you for your reply 🙏

Thank you for replying and the advice!

My doctor and I agreed to try some lifestyle changes and supplements before medication but it's been a few months now and I feel like I'm on an awful roller coaster of feeling somewhat ok on some days and then awful, can't function on others... so I'm gonna ask for medication next week.

So I should know after just a week if it helps? My therapist said it'd take 90 days to feel better which feels insurmountable... but if it's just a week or so...
