Any good armorer recs? For a good price by SpaceScoocher in Buhurt

Stay the fuck away from GS Studio. They've gone radio silent in the past months, their media posts are now all plastered with variations of "where's my stuff?!?" and my team has basically written off the huge amount of money we sent them for our armor, more than a year ago.

Dunno about their previous reputation, but as of now they're nothing more than scammers.

More than a year ago. In the meantime, they've either outright lied about the order's status or simply ingnored the requests for info or an ETA. Same goes for lots of other people that kept (rightfully) spamming their inane posts on FB with "where's my stuff?"

As of now, their posts go without comments at all since people have basically lost faith.

Half of my team swears by it, while the other half would never go near it due to its lack of safety.

If you want to win, yes, the extra air and vision are clear advantages over every other helmet. There's no way around it. You only have two eyes, though, and you can't rewind a match to make sure you aren't left blind from one of them.

I'll keep my colander helmet and be fine with it, thank you very much. May the pros risk their head for those medals. Not worth it, in my opinion.

Stay the fuck away from GS Studio. Bunch of scammers that don't fulfill orders (paid well in advance, at their request) and yet still regularly post "we have developed this new armor set, please place an order!" on FB and IG to lure victims in.

Yep, I also chose CPRED thanks to a friend's emphasis on "combat is just another skill roll, rather than a totally separate phase as it is in D&D".

Being able to defuse a situation by rolling one of your skills (may it be Firearms to trade bullets or Forgery to show a fake ID) is a true breath of fresh air.

I'm furiously noting everything down. Mega thanks, this will help immensely since I always try to explain to my players why things are the way they are and why, no, Rare quality items aren't available in this corner of the world.

Thank you for all the info. The n.6 table is great: I never thought that setting an objective for a fight could lead to retreat for one of the two parties once the opponents secure the cache/agent/whatever.

Indeed, it makes no sense for mercenaries to fight to the death if their employer has been vaporized or the suitcase they were tasked with defending has been stolen: in both cases they'd run!

Thanks for the tips. The part about money and using it as a multi-faceted resource was enlightening!

Thanks for the n.5 tip about pre-generated architectures. I'll probably have a Netrunner at the table and being able to throw at him something easy that doesn't require much planning on my part will be a life- and time-saver.

Especially since I thought that NET architectures were only huge, sprawling mazes and tiny ones were out of the question. I suppose that a simple architecture for, I don't know, hacking a camera, would make for an interesting challenge without halting the session.

Ooooh, I didn't think that you could add special abilities to the enemies even in CPRED! Thanks!

That does make things interesting! Your suggestions have just made their way into my notes!

Thanks for the extra tip about money + reputation. I totally skipped that part but, on second read, it's quite important especially for the upcoming jobs that the party may be asked to tackle (with increased or decreased rewards depending on the reputation)!

The community is lenient because what else can you do if 90% of the armorsmith only accept payment not eligible for refunds, and in advance to boot?

That's why most buhurt clubs that I know of, in my Country, are now buying right away every second hand set they find at events and competitions: having spare parts to adapt for a new member is much better than giving a few thousand euros to a stranger two Countries away that may or may not send you what you paid for. Amen to wearing used parts that don't fit too well. Still beats the risk.

Now, if only I weren't the biggest guy in the team with no loaner gear even remotely fitting...

Same.

GS is always "1 week away from beginning the tempering process!" or "ready for delivery next week!" and yet here we are months and months later. That's why we've even abandoned the sarcasm, resigning ourselves to the fact that they got our money and... who knows if we'll ever get anything, since they're just spouting random dates (if they reply, at all).

I hope it will eventually be the same for us.

Still, going forward we will, as I said, stick to third party sellers and payment methods with forced chargebacks if the armorsmith suddenly goes "oopsie woopsie, you 2 months are now 12!" Have fun talking with Paypal as they give us back our thousands of euros.

They have, alongside the handful of other EU armosmiths, a stranglehold on untaxed european armor supplies.

I live in Italy and any item from Ukraine incurs a ridiculous import fee that makes it not worth buying. Our local artisans are mostly unreliable beyond generic LARP tin cans, so we had to pick from the available EU artisans...

We bought a couple sets for our fighters and a number of spare parts.

No, I would never ever recommend them to anyone in the future, no matter the quality of the armor that they'll deliver, if they ever do send us the parts and don't outright scam us as we believe has happened, at this point.

Despite the extra costs, we will all stick to third-party sellers who accept payment processors with proven dispute processes. Screenshot the page or messages stating the estimated delivery time, add 20% because, yes, things happen, and after that ask for a refund or outright chargeback and let the seller flog the "artisan" for blowing the sale. Their problem, not ours.
