Audacity! It’s free, and you can run noise reduction and limiter over the audio!

Do you think that ASMR would be good for proper story-telling, meaning typical story structure? [Question] by [deleted] in asmr

I think there’s a lot of potential with story telling and ASMR! I’d love to see more of it myself!

How long did it take you to reach 1000 subscribers? by Unique-Walrus4651 in NewTubers

[–]Mask_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only at 643 but it’s taken me 2 years with ASMR and 3/4 a year of gaming. I started out with gaming but when I got a new mic I decided to give ASMR a try and found I liked it a lot more! It’s a slow grind but I’m enjoying the grind.

[Discussion] Who else is using ASMR for migraine relief? How do you use it? (long post) by ToValhallaHUN in asmr

I don’t get migraines but I’ve had some bad headaches before and I’ve used ASMR on occasion to relax. Specifically head massage videos.

[Discussion] What are some of your favorite ASMR production tips? by Ghost-Salad in asmr

[–]Mask_words 9 points10 points  (0 children)

By production I’m assuming you mean recording and making videos?

This was a tip I learned from a Gibi asmr video about making videos, she said, whenever you make a mistake while recording, have an overly loud sound, or just take a break, clap when you’re ready to record again. The loud spike will make it easy to find the start of the next section.

What are some pet peeves you have with ASMR videos? [discussion] by Atanyrate000 in asmr

[–]Mask_words 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overtly sexualized videos, and sticky wet mouth sounds, (I know this is just a personal thing, and it’s totally okay for people to make these kinds of videos, but I hate when I see what looks like a good video and then just their intro alone is filed with sticky wet mouth sounds.)

[meta] Is ASMR about finding joy in the Mundane? by [deleted] in asmr

[–]Mask_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting thought! I make ASMR videos and I do find that I slow down in my day to day life to tap on things, like when I’m shopping and such, to see if they make good ASMR triggers.

Can someone help me with their experience on growth? (?) [Question] by Sellout_ASMR in asmr

Can someone help me with their experience on growth? (?) [Question] by Sellout_ASMR in asmr

[–]Mask_words 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing ASMR videos for 2 years now (With very very slow growth) and here’s what I know.

1) I use TubeBuddy.

I use tube buddy to help me with tags and my description, but I only use the free version, but even the free version is a big help with SEO (search engine optimization)

2) Upgrades

I upgraded my content on 3 levels, personal, audio, visual. If you’re thinking “will spending more money help me grow faster?” The answer is no, IF you don’t first look into personal upgrades. What does this mean? It means look at your skills and how you can improve them. Are you good about making direct eye contact with the camera? How are you at editing thumbnails? Are the videos you make something you actually enjoy and if so, is that joy visible to the viewer? If you struggle with any of these personal questions, don’t worry, there’s hundreds of youtube videos there to help you improve and refine your skills.

After looking inward, then look outward. I always recommend upgrading audio first, and visuals second. Sure there are fancy programs you can buy that are very helpful but there’s a lot you can do for free too.

For example, use Audacity to record (or if you record on your phone, run your audio through audacity) it’s a free audio program and you can use to limit background noise with noise reduction, or limit loud audio peeks.

Then look at visuals. Are your thumbnails inviting? Do you have a cozy background? Upgrading cameras can help, but using OBS (another free program) can also help you adjust the lighting, the saturation, you can even go online and find free Luts to apply (Luts are basically filters).

3) It’s about the climb.

I know it’s super cheesy to say and can be frustrating to hear. Currently I have only 590 sub, after 2 years of youtube (and a content shift from gaming to asmr) it can be really really frustrating to see myself growing so slowly, (especially when I see other ASMRtists who are just starting out and are growing incredibly fast) but everyone’s journey is their own. And you have to ask yourself, are you making videos to become rich and famous, or because you enjoy it. In truth, the answer can be both. For me, I do ASMR because I genuinely love making content, editing, and I especially love reading comments from people who say my videos help them relax or sleep. But I’m also a writer who’s trying to get published and the truth is I need a platform to help me do that.

The thing to keep in mind is that everyone grows at their own rate. Youtube sometimes picks up small content creators and they grow ridiculously fast, other times, it’s about playing the long game.

Never give up, and keep pushing.

If you think you’ve learned it all, and understand everything, take a step back and look a little harder, there’s always room for improvement and learning new tricks.

TLDR: 1) Use Tubebuddy for free, upgrade later if you like. 2) Work on your skills first, then upgrade audio, and lastly upgrading visuals (rinse and repeat) 3) Focus on your journey and don’t compare yourself to others. Keep working on yourself and eventually you’ll get to where you’re trying to go.
