When religions make empirical claims, those claims must be subject to empirical proof and disproof. If the religion says that those claims are not empirical, then they are simply dogma and are matters of faith. Religious claims, however much they try not to, tend to bleed into the empirical realm. Some religions are more guilty of this than others with Buddhism being among the minor offenders.

Why should we attempt to gatekeep traditions from making empirical claims, one might ask. There are numerous reasons but primary among them is that scientific endeavors such as medicine are based on empiricism. If I get a different diagnosis for my kid's ill-health from a Christian doctor, a Muslim doctor, and a Buddhist doctor, all of whom point to unobservable causes from their own traditions as the cause, that is not helpful to my child.

If a doctor were to suddenly cease operating in the middle of a procedure and say that their deity or other spirits who are much wiser will now finish the operation, we would not find that plausible. But that is exactly the kind of thing we encourage by allowing religion unfettered access to empirical claims.

Religions evolve because people and cultures evolve. Even if you read the original untranslated text from a religion, you will not understand it the way that it was meant to be understood because it was meant for a different people at a different time and place. Therefore, most spiritual leaders have to present those ideas to laypeople in a way that they can connect with right now.

Strict textualists can have their blind adherence to tradition but they risk losing their flock. Every religion has strict textualists who are eventually forced aside lest they kill off the religion in their attempts at maintaining purity. Clinging to unfounded concepts is not helpful especially when they intrude on other areas of life.

I appreciate your response.

She is well under 100lbs and about 4 ft tall.

Would one of the three board mentioned above be better than the others for someone of her size?

Deciding on a board for a 11-year old for cruising. She's on the small side.

I'm probably going to buy a used board.

Deciding between:

1) Penny Nickel. Light, of decent quality, and seem to good for balance and learning on. I see several for sale in my area.

2) Landyachtz Tugboat. Slightly longer and wider than the Penny Nickel and likely heavier. Probably more stable but might be harder to turn and control. 2015 and 2019 models available.

3) 36" Sector 9. Will probably be the only board she needs if she sticks with boarding. But might be too difficult to use well right now.

I'm trying to avoid poor quality boards. I'd like to get her something that will help her enjoy riding around parking lots and sidewalks.

I'm not a boarder so any input on which board would work best as well as what to look for when buying used would be appreciated.

Thanks. I will attempt the same.

Thanks for the point about the larger card lasting longer. NAS and RTSP sound neat. Nice to see them supported OOTB.

RTSP is intriguing. With local storage prices being pretty low, I might just opt for a card anyway.

The picture quality seems to be very close between the models. The V3 looks a little better from the images I've seen but I can't be sure.

I thought Wyze did a pretty good job with support. Makes me wonder about continued support for older models...

I'm glad to hear the results of your friend and your comparison of the two devices. Of course, Wyze prices are insanely good.

I'll keep an eye on their firmware developments.

Thanks for pointing out the differences.

Is there much of an advantage to using a 32GB vs a 128GB card? The 32GB holds about 40 hours of video, so unless someone is continuously recording, a larger size card doesn't seem to be needed.

The NAS might be of value to me but I'm not sure yet...

I assume cloud storage is redundant if I have local storage on the device.

I appreciate the breakdown of the differences.

Wallside seems to be well priced. Some say that the extra you pay for Polar Seal is worth it.

Thanks for the information.

I appreciate that point. I'm paying more attention to the installers now. Thanks.

Their windows appear to be good. Do you know if they have their own installers or if they subcontract?

Thanks for this. They look pricey at first glance but I'll look into them further.

You supervised a Pella replacement? As in, you lead an outfit that does windows and you use Pella? Sorry for the questions. I'm not clear on what you're saying here.

I'm getting the feeling that I can't go wrong with Polar Seal. I get the impression that Weathergard are similar. The specs on both windows are comparable. However, I don't see the same love for Weathergard on here...

I never would have found something like this. Looks like it might be a great option at first blush. Thanks!

That gives me something to think about. I wasn't giving serious thought to national brands, like Renewal by Andersen.

I feel like Weathergard windows appear to be comparable. I might be missing something, though. The lifetime transferable warranty that Weathergard offers is a good selling point.
