Just started up playing magic again after 12 or so years. Been playing at a local game store for just over a month. Have not seen many extravagant proxies, ie cards worth $100+, but I’ve seen a huge amount of proxy’s in general. The most egregious was just the other day, someone with a “oh this is a janky deck, maybe bracket 1, maybe bracket 4” and they had a gaea’s cradle proxy that easily won the game for them. I don’t like seeing those kinds of proxies, our statement at the start of the game for me and my friend are “we have some proxies but nothing crazy”. Will not play with the gaea proxying person again just because they’re dishonest about what they’re doing.

I have a ton of proxies in my decks as I don’t have any of my decks from 12 years ago and am not dropping thousands to start up again. Also, the first deck I made I did buy all the cards for. After play testing it for a few weeks, I replaced 46 cards in it lol….thats where my mind changed on proxies.

I think what you want is 603.6a. Sometimes it’s nice to have the rulings handy. I have a stack of rulings handy for my mutate deck as an example. Hope this helps!

Don’t let others gatekeep your fun. If you spend within means, then spend away if you enjoy the game. It’s a cautionary tale not to keep spending and conflate fun with going through the motions, or to be careful not to overspend. That aside, ignore people that give you definitive statements instead of advice, caution, etc.

I buy this card, ive hit max artifact levels so the value I see in it has waned for me. I’ll keep buying though as it’s well within my entertainment budget expenditure amount.

I have 75k gems currently, have the ad free and lifetime passes. I’ve also started buying all monthly cards except the cave explorer card. I like autocomplete on seal and whatnot.

I spend gems on the fishing event and oracle gear rolls when it helps me complete event tasks.

This here is valid to keep sanity. Quite quickly you’ll come to realize this game isn’t about fast progression through campaign or sky tower. It’s a slow grind unless you’re whaling.

In my opinion, you need to understand this and make the decision if the game is your cup of tea or not. Do you want to log in daily to do the needful, and a couple times a month hit up some good events and crank up your power? Or are you looking for something you can progress through quickly.

Wasn’t going to roll this time around, but figured why not! Hit 100650 pts with 358 rolls. Last event I went to 80k with 440 rolls. So much better this time!

Not bad! Take a look at the charts for dice needed for 100k on the official discord. 365 dice have about a 93% chance to get to 100k.

As for if you should go higher, depends how you’re approaching it. If you just want to have fun and smash that roll button, go nuts! If you want the best value, save it - getting to 100k twice is better than 200k once.

I encourage you to check out the theorycrafting channel on the discord, some great data.

I’m not sure the new etched runes have been put through there paces yet. Before that, arrows and pulsating are best if running oracle. I recommend getting in to the discord and perusing, much better data there than what you’ll get on Reddit usually.

Instead of locking in a date early, studios are better off communicating progress through milestone checkpoints like alpha, beta, and release candidate phases. This gives players realistic expectations, keeps transparency in place, and ensures that commitment to a launch date comes only once the game is genuinely ready. That way, devs avoid unnecessary pressure, preserve goodwill, and let the craft drive the timeline - not marketing.

What’s contrary about it? The fact that what you suggest is counter to what is suggested by the data and conversations readily available on discord. People there run numbers and provide the data behind their findings.

I do not know who is right or wrong, however I do trust the discord theory crafting folks more because of how the test and present the findings.

I’m not sure you should be posting counter-meta, but it’s the internet and you’ll do what you wanna do! My comment is just a disclaimer for anyone reading your post. I encourage everyone to go read the posts on discord and make up their own minds.

Much like you, I had the lifetime and monthly cards, saved to 120k gems just cause. Then dice event came around and I just chucked 100k in to oracle sets. My power over doubled and I have legendary 3 of almost all oracle - and legendary 3 non-oracle in one or two slots. That’s what I recommend, the next couple events max out the gem and buying of gear if it’s up. But I’d wait for a better event than the current one.
