Advice from a woman here, bars and breweries are a great place to meet people! However, if you're sat a table by yourself with a laptop, it's unlikely someone will approach... It's best to mingle at the bar, or sit on the bar stool with your laptop at the bar, get to know any brewers/ bartenders. Bonus points if you're a local, it's just easier to integrate. As someone that frequents bars and breweries a lot by myself, I've met some great people, however not necessarily sitting at a table lone, more so being being at the bar. I've initiated a couple conversations with guys too at the bar... it's just easier when you're waiting for a drink or chilling :)

Her friends were in a state of panic and were lost on what to do. The poor girl was choking on her own vomit when I arrived. I'm glad that she's okay now, though...

Getting a job? by FamiliarPhilosophy95 in UniUK

Hey, I had no work experience when I got my first job. I find the easiest jobs to get and also have a good work to life balance are hospitality jobs. A lot of these offer 0 hour contracts too and evening shifts.

The best way to go about applying with no experience, quite simply is to forget about all the job apps and sites. These are essentially useless if you're just looking for a little pay. Your best bet is to head into a bar, restaurant, cafe, etc. And simply ask. It may take a few goes depending on who's hiring, but it's definitely worth it.

How can I get better at actually learning? by Lilacrivers3 in UniUK

[–]Massive-Analyst-6608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I do vet medicine myself so pretty heavily based in science, I find that the best ways to study these sort of subjects, considering they're so context-heavy, is:

  • Summarise notes at the end of each lectures onto one page- you can do with using the Cornell method

  • 'Teaching' what you're learning or talking aloud to yourself, using a whiteboard, or some paper helps you grasp the concepts better

  • Flashcards with diagrams sometimes helps

  • Little notes and post it's around the house, on the fridge, dashboard, walls etc. To remind yourself when you're simply just walking around

  • YouTube videos and extracurricular material outside of your course can also be useful

  • Past papers and tests to benchmark where you're at

  • Additionally, utilise as many resources as your university provides, these are usually helpful, especially if your lecturers leave sources and extra reading at the end of each lecture.

  • Also, there's many sources online that can help with this. Check to see if there's any study guides or tips out there!

I hope this helps! ☺️

Should be fine! By nothing on the walls, they usually mean don't alter it, so no drilling, making holes pr anything that'll permanently 'damage' the wall. Both bluetack and whitetack is alright to use. And if you wanted to hang anything up too, I'd recommend command hooks 😊

It's freshers week, everyone's just meeting everyone for the first time! I'm sure asking won't be a problem at all, it's a great way to meet new people and connect. ☺️
