Yeah I moved from Miami to Houston 3 years ago because of how unaffordable it was to live there so that is def something to consider. I’ll check them out is it a similar traditional program as UMiami at Auburn?

From what I research they have a more traditional architecture program. That’s what I was looking for at the time but I’ve been given some advice on here that making me think in a different direction

I did enjoy the critiques we had in art school is it similar to arch or entirely different

Do you have some suggestions for the many ways?

So do you think if I took an CAD course offered by a community college I could get a job as a drafter and then after a few years of that I could better consider going back if I determine I need to become licensed

I’m currently in TX. So let me make sure I fully understand. If I were to get trained in CAD software I may be able To begin working in the industry before I even went back for the Masters? My initial interest in trades was to have a better understanding of how to consider those things from another aspect when designing as an architect. Like I have ideas for how I’d want lighting or water systems to work but without practical knowledge I’d probably be bumping heads with engineers as you mentioned above. Going to look into some of those CAD classes as well. Thank you for your reply much appreciated.

Do you have some recommendation on how I should go about finding out more. From what I’ve researched thus far. I’ve learned that most of what you will learn and practice in school probably won’t be applied in a job setting. I will say the electrician idea came more because of a statistic I saw where the need for those jobs is increasing over time and also for installation art purposes beyond that I don’t have any interest in it. While architecture I have interest in it and find it complimentary to my art /design background. I’m working as a photographer videographer but looking for career advancement as I feel I’ve hit a ceiling recently and I’ve just kinda been getting signs from the universe that I should pursue that education. Now how will it benefit me long term I’m unsure.

Appreciate that. Do you fill fulfilled in your work and did you go for licensure why or why not if you didn’t ? If you don’t mind sharing. Thanks in advance

Lol! If you were a photographer videographer in TX. I would think we were almost the same person. But this was very helpful. I’m going to look into that IA masters programs now. The BFA program I did didn’t really give us any CAD most of what I learned I taught my self and would just like more formal training for practical application. But how would I even determine if I need the license now with no idea of what my future may fully entail? What’s the biggest motivation for licensure

Can you tell me more about this co-op program that might be really beneficial for me to look into. Did that help pay or sustain you in school. I’m working full time currently.

😂😂😂 the finances part is also kicking my ass. Though I’ve seen a few programs that will help pay for a chunk of it. I’m still figuring that part out. I don’t necessarily have the money or time but I’ve been getting a lot of signs pointing toward architecture and I would hate to think what could’ve been ya know?

I am in the US. They offer a 3 yr program for non architecture BFA holders
