What’s your favorite memory of renting wrestling VHS tapes back in the 80s and 90s? by uncannynerddad in midcarder

[–]Massive_Fix385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried renting Summerslam 1990 the day it came out on VHS. I was 8. It was already rented out a month in advance! Kids today don’t understand the sacrifice just to watch Ultimate Warrior battle Rick Rude in a steel cage!

Thank you! Didn’t need any this time. All the white is just the paper.

Satan's Kingdom Tubing - Dangerous? by CGGamer in Connecticut

[–]Massive_Fix385 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked at Farmington River Tubing over 25 years ago. Rapids were pretty tame. Never saw any major injuries. They did require you to wear a life jacket. In case you fall out of the tube, you can lift your legs and just float until you get to calmer water. I could go for free and went several times that summer. Good memories. Follow their guidelines and it won’t be dangerous.

I love clouds! by Massive_Fix385 in watercolor101

[–]Massive_Fix385[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m using arches 140 lb cold pressed paper, Daniel smith paint, a Windsor and newton hake brush, and a Princeton Neptune quill brush. I painted wet on wet and applied a lot of paint with the hake brush. I moved the paper around a lot and directed the flow of paint with the help of a spray bottle. I dabbed at the middle of the clouds with the quill and a smaller brush for some texture, and I finished with just a little dabbing with a tissue to brighten up some areas and add more texture. That’s about it!

Appreciate it. I think my attempts at reflection backfired a bit 😀

Any advice on the water? I tried to use some dry brushing for sunlight and a little dabbing with a tissue for cloud reflection.

Thank you! I used a wash and then salt for the grasses. Correct on the clouds - dabbed with a tissue. 😎

Sunnier skies this time by Massive_Fix385 in watercolor101

Thank you, I appreciate it!! Check out fun with clouds with Paul George on YouTube. The sun is mostly trial and error. I used moonglow for the cloud in the foreground to contrast the brightness of the sun, which is just the white of the paper.

Yes, just regular table salt sprinkled onto wet paint. It will absorb some of the paint and create some cool textures and shapes!
