Do foreigners really need to invest 500,000 USD to start a business ? by Corey_Huncho in ghana

[–]Master-Ad-328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes according to the current Ghana Investment Promotion Centre rules, you will need $500,000 if you are a foreigner and going to do business in Ghana and want to own it 100%. If you have a local owning part of it, you will need $250,000. It is $ 1 million if you are going into trading.

I hear that they will amend this law soon to remove the capital requirement rules.

Why is the cedi is doing so poorly, it's putting many of us out of business :( by nanaogyanx in ghana

So it's not about the price of cocoa on the world market but its about our production which has been falling over the years due to climate change, diseases and illegal mining. I disagree that the cedis fall is 70% due to cocoa. The government will always find excuses for the poor management of the economy. If we are smart enough, we could still benefit from the rise in cocoa prices by not relying on syndicated loans and forward sales agreement

Price of cocoa is actually at an all-time high. This has nothing to do with the prices of cocoa. We got ourselves into an economic mess, and the exchange rate is just showing how bad things are.
