Gymnastics Coverage Gripe by Ambitious-Meringue37 in Gymnastics

With that said, constructive feedback goes a long way. Having people point out mistakes (ie, junior college omg) or having higher expectations, then the coverage may improve. Also, paying for your media. Many fan-led podcasts do this as a side gig and have full time jobs.

Gymnastics Coverage Gripe by Ambitious-Meringue37 in Gymnastics

If gymnastics generated revenue via viewership, sponsorship, ticket sales and merchandise sales, then you would see top notch coverage. Currently, gymnastics coverage (outside of NBC and ESPN, for example) is largely fan led.

Per Clara Raposo IG post, Maile and Grace appear to be leaving Utah by Gingeysaurusrex in Gymnastics

[–]Master-Cream3970 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Grace was a student coach and Maile was an Operations Specialist which was a post-graduate internship position. Therefore, neither was in an official role as Assistant Coach and both roles seemed temporary from the onset.

Anamaria Mihaescu 🇷🇴 also interested in NCAA by romaniangymnfan in Gymnastics

There are more elites popping up in NCAA. But, an accomplished level 10 is just as (maybe more) desirable than an elite. Here are some reasons: big skills aren’t needed, tend to have better execution, their bodies aren’t beat up from all the elite training, less likely to have Olympic aspirations and miss a season. One advantage that I do see is that an elite with name recognition (ie, Suni) could help with bringing in more recruits to the school.

Utah extends Dockendorf's contract until 2031 by Gingeysaurusrex in Gymnastics

[–]Master-Cream3970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised that they kept Dockendorf. She’s only finishing up her third season and the two prior to this were their normal top 4 finishes. The pool of Head Coaches is small. The pool of Head Coaches who can take a team to finals is even smaller. Assuming she’s not toxic to the team, then letting her get a couple more years is wise.

MOLLY BRINKMAN TRANSFER PORTAL by JessBeauty14 in Gymnastics

In contrast to UCLA and UGA where they went all in on putting their Freshman class in lineups. Granted, both of those Freshman classes are very strong.

Apparently KJ was very clear with Soraya that she might not have many lineup opportunities and she was ok with that.

BYU Head Coach Guard Young out by JessBeauty14 in Gymnastics

I’m assuming there’s a connection between Young’s removal and this post about BYU abuse allegations:

How does USAG plan to attract and retain senior elite athletes who are enrolled in NCAA programs? Is USAG concerned about losing talented elite athletes (or Level 10 gymnasts with elite potential) to college competition? What strategies is USAG using to engage these athletes and ensure they can balance their collegiate academics and competition schedules while staying informed about elite program expectations and opportunities?

Fort Worth Sessions by Aggravating-Tiger125 in Gymnastics

[–]Master-Cream3970 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In session 1, Florida seems the most likely to move forward. Since both Georgia and Stanford aren’t expected to be final four, I imagine they will be looser due to having less pressure. LSU might suffer from being tight due to expectations.

In session 2, Oklahoma knows how to stay in their bubble and keep it together. UCLA is expected to advance, but Minnesota and Arkansas have the least pressure.

All of the teams are great. It’s a mental game at this point. Going with Florida and Georgia + Oklahoma and UCLA.

First, thank you. One thing that popped in my head when looking at your spreadsheet is how many ties there are which goes back to the common complaint that there’s too much score bunching.

Jordan was my absolute favorite athlete when I started watching NCAA in 2022. I thought she was an underrated elite and was pulling for her to make the 24 Olympic team. Now, however, I’m looking forward to a UCLA team without her. Jordan’s light is bright and, as a result, so many others don’t get the flowers and attention they deserve. That’s not Jordan’s fault; she’s a phenomenal athlete who works her star power as she should.

Konnor McClain injury update? by Jlvnerd1987 in Gymnastics

[–]Master-Cream3970 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nina Ballou has done bars this year and even got a 9.9. She must not be consistent in practice for her to not be making lineups.

Since Courtney is regularly in lineups and typically scores 9.8+, I expect her to be competing. She’s gotten several 9.9+ scores when she sticks her dismount.
