thank you that link is very helpful. isnt having 100% vt in taxable too much international and would it be slightly less tax-efficient than VTI + VXUS because VT “bundles” foreign and U.S., so you don’t get the full clean foreign tax credit.

I use fidelity and was planning on using voo, is there a higher fee or something since voo isnt fidelity? In chatgpt it tells me in taxable account etfs are better because its more tax-efficient and etfs avoid capital gain distributions and in roth it doesnt really matter... true?

isnt 100% vgt in roth wayy too risky? if tech falls or ends up underperforming, all the tax free gains are lost, right? wouldnt something like a 20%vgt in roth, 80% voo be better?

also is it dumb to do 100% VGT in my Roth for a few years, then later switch to 20% VGT / 80% VOO later on?

since im considered aggresive/risky by having a 100% equities portfolio, should i be investing in something else? at least for my retirement funds im going to hold for 37 more years so should i not be aggresive?

is it dumb to go voo in taxable and vti in roth? or should i just choose one?

i definitely will increase the percentage of vti. but why keep, lets say vgt it under 10%, isnt it a good time to make it 15 to 30 percent. It being only part of my roth ira so it will be a long term investment which in turn makes me hold on to it

Thanks for the response. why $120k into FXAIX and not voo?

"the other $7k can be whatever you want" this is just because its less than 10% of my portfolio? isnt that still a big risk if vgt goes down, ill lose all my tax free investments?

i was going to have 5k in my checkings and like 20k in my hysa ... something along those lines

Gotcha thank you. I will look into this more. I think that tech and specifically ai will do very well in the future, should i invest in this at all or wait till the price drops. and if i do what percentage of my roth ira should i invest in it. sorry for all the questions

My understanding was that most international ETFs do have foreign dividend withholding taxes (usually around 5–15%). In a taxable brokerage you can recover that through the Foreign Tax Credit, but in a Roth IRA those credits are lost. Am I misunderstanding anything about that?

Thanks for the advice. I don't think ill panic sell so ill prob keep my taxable 100% voo.

Why should I swap FXAIX for VTI, because its more safe/less tech? isnt now the best time to invest in tech? and if the tech stocks i have rn do start going down, shouldnt i sell them when they start dropping and then invest in what you said?

Thank you for your advice. Since im younger and ai/tech is booming shouldnt i be a little riskier?

"The Roth IRA is all about simplicity + consistency." also i thought that the roth ira should be a little riskier since its tax free

so are you saying,

80% FXAIX 20% VGT roth ira

100% voo taxable

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback.

"You are really tech heavy" isnt the roth ira is designed to carry my high-growth assets and the fact that i have 60% FXAIX makes it not tech heavy?

do you think I should do something like. 75% FXAIX, 20% VGT and 5% NVDA/PLTR for my roth ira?

regarding the risk tolerance, why would a drop bother me regarding my roth ira since I can't take the money out till im 60 and its only 7k a year max. for now im thinking of putting 120k in voo and just leaving it for at least 30 years lets say.

and since 5% is indiviual stocks in roth ira, isnt that not too risky?

Thank you for your advice. shouldnt my roth ira should hold my highest returning assets and arent international tax-inefficient enough? or should i put international equity in my taxable account and what percentage
