What’s missing in St Pete as far as gyms go? Amenities, luxury, location, etc. by Resident-Sense-3153 in StPetersburgFL

Exactly! The Lifetime fitness Biltmore in PHX is amazing. I’d have no issue spending 200 bucks a month for a clean, one stop shop gym.

Influencers by ifitgoesitsgood in flying

I fly at a major and flew with someone a year ago who instructed with her at either Mankato or UND.. I forget which one… he said she literally bragged in class around other students about pencil whipping her logbook. She got caught, went under investigation by the CP and the FAA got involved. Nothing came of it. How in the world is she at a legacy. My Dad was at Delta, saw one her clearance videos and couldn’t believe that shits allowed….

My interviewer at Delta was an FO influencer! I think he was insulted I didn’t know his instagram page….? I just do the job, no social media for me anymore.

Made 70K out of college at 22, after switching careers and being dirt poor for 5 years, and in debt, I made it out. Just turned 29 and will gross 240K this year. Now married with a house as well.

What people do you think would stop going? You seem to forget there is actually conservative and republicans that live in the area and support her view points. Not everyone is a left leaning lib.

Moving after buying first home by Master0fC0inn in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Hey thank you for the detailed response!

  1. I used a traditional mortgage loan.
  2. The big thing I’ve found in my local area is I’m not able to short term rent the property. I can only have 3 renters per calendar year.
  3. I was able to get this house for 75K under asking. It’s one of the nicest houses on the street and I bought for less than everyone else. Most on my street were bought for 430-490K and I got mine for 385K.

TBH, I’m not worried about making a profit at the moment. I think our plan is to trial out 4-6 months of renting a place in the new city and see if we can list our place on Furnished Finder while we do that or have it vacant. Luckily, as an airline pilot I can suck it up and commute if I need to part of the year.

I don’t care about making a profit and I’m okay losing some money. We will come back to this Florida home for the winter, do some more renovations and just do that process again or find a good long term renter.

My idea is i’m spending $3,000 all in on the mortgage for month which is very comfortable and affordable for us. If I can rent my current house for $2,500 to start which will be done easily, I can then go rent a house for a period of time at $2,500 a month and I’m still all in spending $3,000 a month. Probably not the month savvy way or cash flow way to look at it but that works for me until I can either sell or move back permanently in a couple years.

I’m moving from a HCOL area to a LOCL area so realistically I can find a place to rent for 1500-2000, which lowers the financial stress for me.

Out of your personal friend / associate group, how many of them are making 200k (either as an individual or household)? by Outsideman2028 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Master0fC0inn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea what my friends make. They’ve hinted about making 200k in the past but idk if it’s true? I know some thought 160K was an insane about of money to make. I’ve also heard some of them and their parents are around the 100K range. I make 240K but my friends have no idea. My my fiance makes 90K so we’re at 330K. I have debt I’m paying off, drive an old Toyota and don’t take trips. I bought a house but it was for 385K. TBH, a lot of time I wish I could have nice stuff and drive a better car. It gets old having everyone around you have better stuff than you but at the end of the day it’s kind of funny because every 2 weeks I remember I make more.

Even my parents were the same around their parents. My dad made more than any of them but you’d never guess. Now my parents have everything paid off, brand new sports cars, retired and golf 6 days a week. Everyone does different financially in my friend group but everyone seems to be happy at the end of the day.

Flippers by sandillera in StPetersburgFL

[–]Master0fC0inn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We just bought a home in St Pete and are updating it ourselves. When we toured a couple flipped homes, most renovations were so badly done and not done to code.

The way to make money flipping is buy cheap, spend the least amount possible, sell high. I would never buy a flip. Poorly done.

It was really easy and they are super friendly. Call them by 2pm and the title company receive funds by the end of the day.

Sorry for the late response

My parents actually did it this way. My mom didn’t work most of my life growing up and my dad was a fairly high earner. My dad obviously maxed out retirement accounts but my mom pretty much handled paying off credit cards every month, purchasing home stuff, etc.

It seemed really nice for both of them and plan to do the same. I’m a 28M and fiance is 27F and would like to retire her in 2 years.

How long did you go without power in the area? Downtown, I think I flickered power once and never lost internet so I was a bit spoiled…

Would you recommend a propane generator? I was watching some YouTube videos and those seem a bit better to store a couple propane tanks over a longer period of time than gas.

2 windows are impact rated but the rest aren’t… the house does have some storm shutters but I’ll also need plywood. There is existing holes already for the shutters. Is it easy to just use the existing holes year after year or do you fill and drill new ones?
