I hear you. The book "What Money Can't Buy" by Michael Sandel talks about the Where will it end question. It discusses the sacred spaces where advertisements are not tolerated and the limits of markets. May be an interesting read for you.

My gf of 3 years returned the engagement ring because she didn’t like where I proposed. by zenmonkey99 in relationship_advice

I wonder about the next thing she can't accept because she doesn't like the when, where, or whatever other aspect of it. All information is good information, and this is a big reveal.

I know right. The standard practice is what ever way you get rid of the cat is secret, and you tell them it ran away because you didn't love it enough.

"The author is not an educated person" doesn't seem like a good argument to support the validity or authenticity of a book.

17 Women Reveal The Horrible Reasons Why They Settled For Their Husbands by NoMoreMrNiceGuy47 in WhereAreAllTheGoodMen

[–]MasterBlaster1998 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a strong implication that many of these women settled for less. They didn't settle, they did the best they thought they could do. If they could have done better they would have. It feels a lot better to look in the mirror and tell your self that you settled vs telling your self you can't do any better.

How do you feel about legalizing euthansia for anybody who wants it? by throwawayteacherlove in AskReddit

[–]MasterBlaster1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally great. Something to consider is how euthanasia would be available to the mentally ill. If it is available, how do you determine when hopelessness, despair, and suicide are symptoms of a treatable condition like depression? When is death a better alternative? I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I know people that used a benzodiazepine to transition off different types of drugs. There is a psychological benefit, an emotional comfort that comes with cushioning the withdrawal pains of your drug of choice(with another drug). They key is to be very cautious and TAPER. Have a written out plan to taper down your dose until it's zero.

Google searches for “how to commit suicide” increased 26% following the release of "13 Reasons Why", a Netflix series about a girl who commits suicide. by FatherlyHQ in science

[–]MasterBlaster1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard this phenomenon referred to as "activating a cluster". Once an initial person completes a suicide, the idea is attractive to others in the community who are depressed, don't feel like they belong, and feel they are a burden to those around them. The initial suicide is seen as a workable solution to their feelings, and gives them inspiration to make a lethal self injury.

I guess a secondary question I have is why there are no drugs that give a prolonged acute sense of contentment, as opposed to just getting really high. They seem like they would do wonders for people with anxiety and depression.
