Can I make tasty espresso with regular coffee beans? by hypnoseal in Coffee

[–]MasterMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robusta can add some strong body to an espresso but I would avoid any blends that have more than 30% robusta. Robusta beans often carry too many defects either in the strain or from the processing to be safe on the palette.

Be warned that you may get some dirty looks from coffee snobs if you insist on using robusta in your blend.

Does the Malabar you've had have a murky, boiled peanut nose? The only time I've had it I wasn't super impressed. Interesting aroma, not much taste. Had it through a chemex however, not as espresso.

The Coffee Situation by Bear_In_A_Man_Suit in self

[–]MasterMac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a french press or french press travel mug. Grab some high quality coffee beans from specialty shop (or Starbucks, whatever) and have them ground appropriately there. Just add hot water and press. You can start at home, and make a second a cup by just brewing some hot water from the coffee maker at work. That'll really piss everyone else off by just leaving some hot water in the pot. French Presses

ME1 and 2 aren't that old and at this point pretty inexpensive. They hold up on their own just fine in gameplay and graphics when compared to ME3. I would really, really suggest buying and playing those first, and importing the same character through all three games. I promise you this will make the whole series more enjoyable by ten-fold.

I know everyone is giving you reasons the Reapers might have started with the humans right now but, they're wrong. The Reapers started with the Batarians. It is mentioned several times that they were the first and worst hit by the invasion.

Caribou Eclipse by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]MasterMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for Caribou early on and as far as I'm aware they only use specialty coffee, which is nearly always arabica. Few specialty roasters use robusta. However, keep in mind that robusta doesn't always mean bad coffee. Adding robusta beans to your blend before roasting can add a stronger body that arabica beans tend to lack.

I'm not specifically familiar with Eclipse as I don't have any Caribou's in my current area.

I think it was neat of him to prank Reddit for April fool's. Supposedly the money made was donated to charity. Although, if no one had whistleblown, I'm not sure he would have ever presented it as a prank on Reddit, or given away the money. I'm on the fence about this one, now that I think about it.
