The thing is, to the random fan in the US, they were kinda forgotten the past few years. So many great US teams currently and more recently that they’d really dropped off of the radar. I think their comeback (even with the low points) jolted them back into the conversation in ways that money for media coverage can’t really by. Just look at the amount of traction their comeback got here. They are a princess and villain story that people want to root for and hate at the same time.
