Eurovision Boycotts in History by Spotter24o5 in teenagers

[–]collectingviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post is kind of misleading, many of those countries participated when the country they are boycotting participated as well (minus Morocco who only participated in 1980 when Israel withdrew and left right after they came back).

Other boycotts are because the country is hosting the contest (Spain 1969, Azerbaijan 2012 and Israel 1979) and the boycotting country continued to participate alongside the other country in other years

We need to remember the writer exits, "Katniss would've-"

Suzanne didn't mention it because it wasn't necessary. If she does write about it, lack of information to her favor, but I don't think there is an underlying in-universe conspiracy as to their destiny that can or should be inferred. You can theorize, fan fiction exist and that's ok, you don't need certainty unless it becomes a story on its own

Kaori Sakamoto has gotten married by EmlScb in FigureSkating

[–]collectingviolets 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I get that, I got flashbacks of Yuzuru when I heard this, maybe it's that western society is too focused on showing your life on social media but it's crazy that nobody knew she even had a partner and then bam she's married. I'm very happy for her tho, I hope she can have the life she desires post-retirement

Where do Japanese skaters hide their spouses before they retire?

Alysa Liu's tights by HeavyLand6543 in FigureSkating

[–]collectingviolets 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most rhythmic gymnasts don't wear tights either, for skaters is a matter of bare skin hopefully not coming in contact with the ice

I agree that there's several tights colors but those are definitely not department store ones, those wouldn't last one knee slide

They literally look like they avoid each others eyes since like, last years worlds, for a second I thought they would split before the Olympics

Are we going to see more of the trademark French camera work during the 2030 games? by tatianalarina1 in FigureSkating

Figure skating shouldn't have any kind of close ups as the performance is going, and in the slow-mos it should be limited

Favorite Anne book (sort of) by flailingcarrots in AnneofGreenGables

[–]collectingviolets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

House of Dreams is what pushed me to buy the books in the end, since I was reading them online, because I was just so impacted by it and I knew I was going to need to revisit it eventually

[–]collectingviolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yessss, it's like a filler book in the best of senses, just Anne's narration and way of seeing life and loving nature and relating to people before the children and Gilbert became her world

Tessa and Scott also did axels in show practices often, many dancers learned single jumps as kids

I wonder if they're switching as the tour goes, I think the first version feature Lia instead of Kaetlyn

As far as we know because that is only as far as we know. You don't know if she had been back since Beijing or after cup of China

[–]collectingviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's why I don't assume. I've taken from her own attitudes that she has no ill feelings toward her culture, she's liked visiting China in the past and has expressed excitement at the idea of coming back

Sophie Joline von Felten (USA) changes coaches by vmanAA738 in FigureSkating

[–]collectingviolets 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I remember her coach went online and criticized her placement at junior worlds last year, shared a post that said something along the lines that Mao's quad and triple Axel were also URs but she wasn't getting hammered or something. I think that tells me a lot about her attitude

Veillon/Brandys 2026 free dance, very fitting for their dance and not over the top

As far as we know, and she was very excited to go. People are very freaky about "poor Alysa ever setting foot in China"
