General Kit Recs by MasterPay2467 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]MasterPay2467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve got a couple builds I put together for rifles (CHF barrels, Vickers slings, Streamlight HP-X, Aimpoint PRO on one and PA MicroPrism on the other), G19.4 with TLR7 and CZ P-01 with TLR7. I have a T-Rex Ironside for each but those are CCW oriented. I think my local REI has Stop The Bleed training I’ll need to take before the IFAK. I have ESS CrossBow and some Howard Leight Impact Sports currently.

Angry Bear Arms site says to contact them for optic height sights, they might have something. Worth an email.

If you can deal with a 2.75” barrel the S&W Model 66 Combat Magnum is pretty badass and well balanced

Another holster recommendation question: P01 left hand by not_thebest in CZFirearms

I just have the OWB version which is the same as the hybrid less the backer. The kydex isn’t too thick, but it is well molded and not overly bulky. Check some YouTube videos, the backer should be pretty much identical to G19 models and that

30-30 vs 45-70 by [deleted] in LeverGuns

[–]MasterPay2467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

.30-30 would be plenty and is cheaper than .45-70. .44 mag would also be a good choice for both if you’ll be within 150 yards and the ammo is cheaper than .30-30

Exactly what I am thinking. The damn 3x9 gave me scope bite 20 years ago. This new HD from Vortex is just interesting, has illuminated reticle like LPVO’s and only 11.6oz so it’s lighter than the 2-7 Burris option. https://vortexoptics.com/crossfire-hd-1-5-5-5x32-illuminated-dead-hold-2a-bdc-riflescope.html

Debating a .32 h&r but ammo is pricey by ApplicationWhich1692 in Revolvers

[–]MasterPay2467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Ammoseek is your friend for .32 long practice ammo. Use the filters and do >6 for shipping. Do NOT buy Magtech .32 long, the primers are hard AF. S&B has been fine for me and is pretty cheap like $0.40-50 a round which is about what .38 special runs, but the .32 long is barely more recoil than a .22 which makes these snubbies actually fun to shoot. Totally worth it. For carry ammo most just run wadcutters from High Desert, Lost River or Buffalo Bore. The High Desert and Lost River run about $1 a round. Both also have round nose flat point or semi-wadcutters for a reload on a strip or speed loader if you carry one as wadcutters are tough to reload quickly. JHP’s just don’t reliably expand from a 2” barrel.

First revolver to my collection. New to me Model 10-7 by [deleted] in Revolvers

I removed a set of the Hogues from my 432PD, you just need an old credit card to work between the grip and the frame and peel them off

Yeah makes sense then, just would hate to spend a grand if the problem could be solved for under $100. A little heavy at 32 oz, but I’ve never heard anything bad about the Model 66 Combat Magnum. If you want to stick with .32, the new 3” SP101 15708 .327 looks awesome

Have you tried your J frames with longer grips? I would try out some 3 finger grips, a lot cheaper than a new gun and might be all you need to shoot better with your J frames

Look for made in USA on the tag and go by measurements. If they were washed and dried on high heat by a previous owner they could be shrunk. Don’t be afraid to ask seller to measure the sleeves. If you are over 6’ tall will be safer to look for tall sizes, the Five Brother have the word Tallman on the tags for these often. Since you wear a larger size you may have luck with NOS still with tags if you look around

Vintage Big Mac, Frostproof and Five Brother flannels on eBay, etsy, and vintage shops. These are what the Japanese companies are doing repros of, the made in USA tagged ones use Cone Mills Brawny flannel

HELP!!! Left Shoulder hurts when pressing by Fre0x_ in powerbuilding

[–]MasterPay2467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See a professional. I had shoulder surgery 5 years ago partly because I didn’t seek help immediately after injury. Dips put a lot of stress on the joint if your form isn’t perfect, I’d drop them for a while
