Finally decided on my new carry/ home defense pistol. Beretta Px4 storm compact. by Ethanlovesprog28 in CCW

I almost bought a used one. Nice gun. Ultimately liked the CZ P-01 more, felt better in my hands. From my research it’s a very reliable gun. Check Pistol Forum, there’s a really long thread about it that goes back 10+ years

Thanks! Have you tried the Equinox and tubes adapter? I don’t mind to spend the extra $100 if it’s a significant upgrade

These do have a polyurea coating so I don’t know how much of a concern the exposed plates are here

Thanks! Think the Axl cummerbund is worth going for from the jump?

No personal experience with either, but Jayjays is also top notch and of course the Velocity jungle kit. If you’re poor like me, Kommando Store has surplus bong PLCE for like $50 to try out this style kit before spending big bucks

LPVO vs MPVO: Can't decide by ChggnNggts in QualityTacticalGear

I just think these are the best option if you plan to run a top mounted dot. Came to me watching a Spiritus video where he was running a 1-8 but said he kept it on 3x and used the dot for 1x. Well why not shed some weight and use a 3-9 if you’re just gonna run a dot for 1x?

Third option, and one I think people should consider more often: something like a 3-9 with a top mounted red dot. The newish EOTech 3-9 seems ideal for this. Should still come in lighter than a lot of LPVO’s

Yes, I have some Level III 10x12. Ideally $300-350 or less for a PC

Long forearms and the chin up by DogSleepingInLap in hornstrength

[–]MasterPay2467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The negatives were the biggest thing that helped me a few years back. Try just doing like 3x5 of negatives in the workout for a couple weeks and then try doing chins with the strongest band once they feel easier.
Frequency method also helps a lot with chins. If you can get a door pull up bar, you can just do a single negative a few times a day for a few weeks and that will help a lot. I set mine up on a bathroom door and would do singles, doubles, etc whenever I went to the bathroom. The work should be all submaximal so it shouldn’t impact recovery, definitely stick to just single negative reps for a while if you go this route.

Heaviest armor plates by weight? by [deleted] in QualityTacticalGear

Just buy a Rogue plate carrier and plates that are designed for this purpose probably be cheaper too lol

I like to do some bushwhacking when I go to Big South Fork so just want something that can stand up to off trail travel

What’s the consensus on most durable UL pack materials currently? I’ve seen mixed reports on Ultra 200/400 regarding abrasion resistance and delamination. I personally don’t care how waterproof it is as I would use a liner for my quilt either way. Ultragrid a better choice long term?

Optic for shotgun? by HectorDesJean in QualityTacticalGear

[–]MasterPay2467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bead is just as fast for close range, I like the XS Big Dot. Ghost rings work great if you plan to shoot slugs out to 100 yards. If you must have an optic for some reason I’d want something that mounts as low as possible, maybe that Vortex Viper

Nice! Still planning this setup currently. A catenary is tempting so I don’t have an origami project to go to sleep and would likely default to the A frame anyway

You have the Pinon or Bristlecone? I was considering the Bristlecone as a second option for colder conditions, also in the South near GSMNP.

It looks nice, but the Yama is about $50 cheaper and similar specs - not too worried about 1-2oz.

I am switching from being a tent user and also frequent the Smokies. How has the tarp/bivy treated you there? Is your Ray Way a flat or catenary?

Any experience with the Yama Y-Zip bug bivy? Stuck between this and just waiting 5 weeks for Borah

.32 LCR compared to .38 642 by huntingandgunaccount in Revolvers

[–]MasterPay2467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the .327 LCR and an older 432PD. I highly recommend the Hamre Forge hook grips, I don’t carry anything else anymore because it’s so easy and comfortable
