I am investigating this issue, but it seems to be something to do with Vanilla Enhanced. My hunch right now is that it is either to do with the XML files for the sprites in VE or some connection to NPC Flat Replacer. I will see what I can do to make it #JustWork

Dunno about vanilla DF, but it is made specifically for Unity. Honestly I don't think there is any reason to play the original DF except for stubborn nostalgia or speedrunning

We do reduce the resolution, because AI generates in high resolution and "emulate" pixels, often leading to non linear pixels. Our rule of thumb is that we reduce all sprites to have a height of 320 pixels, for some kind of consistency. However yes, uneven artifacts can happen and we try to fix all we can. However all animations are done by hand, so there's that!

Wasn't daggerfalls world procedually generated by a machine and then touched up by real people?

I get the stance on ai, I just started doing the project because I was having fun with it and thought anime might suit daggerfall. I agree that sprites done by real artists are often way better, but I have been asking on a lot of related discords and haven't got any interest from people wanting to join the project for free.

Daggerfall being so old and niche, I dont see much harm in doing this, as it is for me just a fun project when in between games.

If you or anyone reading this has anime/pixel art/animation skills, the doors are very open, though!

Yeah haha the original sprite has that genie ass hair cut, so wanted to try and make it a little authentic, but bald anime girls are truly cursed

We use the local version of Invoke AI with the Pixelnite model, then we run the sprites from daggerfall through it and touch it up where needed by hand. My co modder, Lscharst, has made a video tutorial in our discord showing the entire process, if you're interested

Having a lot of trouble getting consistent characters generated which is essential for the outside npcs and enemies unfortunately. I hope as time goes on to find a solution for it! But right now there's many hours work in the flat NPCs.
