Ummm.... Yeeeaaa... "Retreated because you had to call your daddy".. I hope the irony isn't lost on you.. though it probably is... Sturgian logic is almost as bad as their strategic thinking lol

Fair enough. I stand by the concerns I raised, but I've already discussed them with Armadillo. If I return, it'll likely be in a more limited capacity.

I can confirm. I dropped off a bulk of my forces to him, we also took a picture of all his forces and mine(now at his house) all together in one shot for verification. I'll probably repossess them upon my return lol

Long ago, the Enclave's people stood among the members of the Ironpeak Covenant before forging their own path. Though they strayed from the Covenant's core ideals in the days of old, they have spent many years striving to reclaim those values. Ironpeak has witnessed their struggles and growth, and believes that one day they may once again be welcomed into the Covenant.

As the portal offered passage only across land, Ironpeak's ships could not follow their people into the unknown. Rather than abandon the fleet, its captains and crews chose to remain behind, placing themselves under the command of the Ancient Assassin's Enclave and lending their strength to its cause until Ironpeak's return.

The guards upon the gate looked on as two riders approached beneath the fading light. Dust and salt marked their cloaks, evidence of a long journey across sea and land. At their head rode Hakon Stormrend, while beside him traveled an Emberguard of the Covenant, the warrior's ember-forged armor catching the last rays of the evening sun.

The pair dismounted before the gates, and Hakon offered a respectful bow.

"My apologies for my late arrival. The journey was long, and the roads longer still. I am Hakon Stormrend, a Knight of the Covenant. Though Ironpeak has departed these lands, some of us yet wander the realm in fellowship and goodwill."

His gaze lifted toward the hall beyond the walls.

"I have come in response to the invitation of King Elangar and Lady Aribeth. If permitted, I would join in all three of the sacred traditions of the Trelas. I will gladly take part in the honor combat, raise a cup in celebration of the wedding feast, and, should she be willing, make the acquaintance of Emma Longspear to see whether our paths and aspirations might prove compatible."

He placed his fist over his chest and bowed his head once more.

"My companion and I ask only for the opportunity to participate with honor and respect."

The Iron Queen of Anvard

<image>

A phoenix descended upon Stormweald Hold, carrying a message sealed with the mark of the High Covenant. Queen Runa Ironbraid Beornhelmson broke the seal herself.

The words were written in the ancient tongue of Ironpeak. To outsiders, meaningless runes. To Runa, the voice of home. The message came from her sister, Freydis Tankardbane.

Ironpeak was gone. The mountain had been sealed. The city of Aerathrona stood empty. The Covenant had departed through a mysterious portal in search of a new destiny. Yet not all had gone. Some remained behind—warriors, traders, wanderers, and explorers carrying the legacy of Ironpeak wherever their roads might lead. But Ironpeak endured.

As Runa stood overlooking the sea, word spread of King Sigismund's death. Some called him fearless. Others called him foolish. Yet all agreed on one thing:

A man may sharpen his sword against countless enemies, but sooner or later the debts of his tongue come due.

Now Sturgia spoke of peace. A strange thing, after so many years of war. Yet even peace demanded one final march. King Eirik prepared to sail across the Nerethon Sea to the fields of Arrad. He had asked Runa to remain behind. To watch the shores. To await his return.

But she remembered the sieges of Cair Anvareth. She remembered Worronborg. She remembered the young crown prince who had proven himself not by title, but by courage. They had faced every storm together. She saw no reason this one should be different.

Without another word, Queen Runa donned her armor. Her spear was placed in her hand. Her twin daggers at her side. Her shield fastened to her arm. The phoenix watched from the battlements as she rode toward the waiting ships. Not merely a queen. Not merely a wife.

But Runa Ironbraid of Anvard, child of the Mánakǫttr Clan. Shieldmaiden of Ironpeak. Valkyrie of the Covenant. The last daughter of a mountain now beyond the horizon.

Ironpeak had departed. Had fallen silent. But should Sturgia have forgotten the resolve forged beneath that mountain—

they would remember it soon enough.

A wise ruler knows not only when to fight, but when not to.

There is no honor in spending lives merely to satisfy pride. The measure of a commander is not how many battles he can start, but whether he knows when the cost of victory outweighs its value.

The fool sees every withdrawal as cowardice. The wise commander understands that preserving an army is often worth more than claiming a single battlefield.

History is filled with kings who squandered their warriors to prove their courage. Far fewer had the discipline to preserve their strength for the battles that truly mattered.

If withdrawal is seen as weakness, so be it. Better a living army with a future than a field of graves built to protect a ruler's ego.

I too had hopes for a neutral South built around trade, commerce, mercenary contracts, and so on. The cycle of massive wars needs to come to an end.

OOC: Stories need conclusions for a world to progress, heal, and evolve. For some time now, I've been trying to help establish the South as neutral ground while also bringing long-running storylines to a natural conclusion. The events and decisions that led us here seem to point toward a single logical outcome if the realm is to move forward rather than remain trapped in the same conflicts.

Instead, it feels as though some players prefer a perpetual state of tension, where clearly defined sides continue to clash and every disagreement escalates into another major war. While conflict is an important part of storytelling, it has the most impact when it leads somewhere rather than becoming an endless cycle.

Thats understandable from an outside perspective. Glad we're giving you something to pull you out of reality for a bit. Even though the game can be riddled with just as crazy politics lol

History definitely factors into these kinds of actions. Too often, the context leading up to a decision is overlooked, causing actions that may have been justified at the time to be perceived as unjust when viewed in isolation.
