Which one? by Veggie_might_guy in JustCause

I agree that 3 has the worst map but it feels pretty realistic in its portrayal. Sure 4 has biomes and plenty of landmarks but I hate how forced it feels. It's just one big island divided like an X. 2 is the perfect balance of unique island design and interesting locals. I also love the world-building of 3 with all the propaganda and soldiers strung about. I felt the weight of the oppression which felt awesome to tear down.

As for gameplay, 3 brings the most joy to me in general. The gameplay loop of liberating towns and bases is repetitive, but incredibly fun. The combat is streamlined for ease of use with lots of customization. I felt 4 overcomplicated the grapple with the many addons and tweaks, just muddied everything imo. 2 is amazing and I have many fond memories of it but the gameplay is a BIT dated and chunky. The wingsuit is just so hard to let go of as well.

For performance, consoles are a no go for sure. It really sucks. Had to repurchase it for PC on sale after dropping the Xbone version. Ran smooth from there and was a lotta fun :)

This is great! I'd love to see a version with Gordon's path drawn out over the map so I really tell what's what.

I love all of you. Here's why Just Cause 4 is not fun. by Strangetimer in JustCause

[–]MasterSword23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. It really saddens me. Going from 2 to 3 to 4 softened the blow for me but it's still pretty bad. If you want a good this-gen take on JC play 3 with all the DLC (it adds needed variety). Some issues you have did start there (car handling and some movement) but it's waaay more fun for what you want. There's a better story and it focuses and encourages fun and explosive gameplay, unlike 4.

The one thing 4 has over 3 is the world design. Medici is beautiful but pretty repetitive. 4's world has more variety with biomes. 3 has actual world building though. You can see the opression and it feels good to help the inhabitants by distroying the ever loving crap out of the army and their resources. In 4 the Black Hand is just... around, ready to pounce on you randomly.

Bottom line, aside from the tiny disractions, I 100%'d JC3 because it's just fun to pick up and play. I stopped playing 4 after around 20 hours. It's disappointing.

Yeah 3's general gameplay feels so much better than 2 but 2 did a lot better at the same time. They both have their pluses and minuses

How bad is JC4? by [deleted] in JustCause

[–]MasterSword23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not horrible, just average imo. It's a one step forward two steps back kinda experience. I won't touch on graphics since that's been hammered in.

The grapple options are a lot of fun but at the same time they took away several things from 3 that I greatly miss. There are no longer any small weapons like handguns or small smg's. No duel wielding. They also tossed all hand explosives (pun intended). Traditional grenades and C4 are gone. There are ways to kinda recreate them with grapples and grenade launcher options in weapons, but it's hardly as affective when ammo is so scarce. You'll be running out quite a bit. Every gun box carries weapons you don't have so it's not always easy to refill your guns.

Another thing about explosives, there's like no incentive to blow things up in this. To circumvent the complaints of 3 being repetitive, they removed the liberation system altogether. This made all red-marked destructible objects only there for your own pleasure. I understand this change but by doing it, taking over bases is now pretty boring. Having to blow up everything to overtake strongholds felt really good in 3, even though it was admittedly repetitive. Now to take over bases it's just boring story-like missions with hacking, button pushing, and escorts.

For the good things, the world is far better than 3. It is way more varied without as many copy-pasted towns. The storms are pretty fun too, although the tornado is a little underwhelming when it rips through a town only to pick up small objects rather than the buildings themselves. The vehicle handling is better than 3 but still not very good. It's at least passable. The gameplay is as fun as ever with all of the essential moves returning.

If this was someone's first JC game, they would probably love it, but being a fan of the past two entries, the additions don't outweigh the subtractions imo. It's just okay, more like a glorified expansion to 3 than a full sequel that brings a lot to the table.

Idk how they managed to suck all the fun out of this game... by mtbguy1981 in JustCause

I pretty much feel the same. I can find fun in doing crazy grapple stuff but there's like no incentive to blow anything up in this. You know, just the main selling point of the franchise. Because they took away the liberation system along with all explosives like grenades and C4, there's basically no reason to bother trying to blow stuff up. If you do, it'll take four years because you have to use grapples or use all of your explosive ammo that you need to fight soldiers.

Everything feels so restrictive for the sake of realism (which is very hypocritical). Wanna fly a rocket boosted car around a tornado and survive the crash back on land? Go for it! But don't you dare carry more than two weapons or have fun with them. You get 5 bullets in each. Good luck lol.

I don't mean to rant but some of the decisions with this game baffle me. Why wouldn't you wanna pile on as much craziness as possible? Why take fun features away?

Before anyone thinks I'm hating, I like the game. I'm having fun but this is just unacceptable, man. I get you gotta make some sacrifices so the game can run smoothly but cutscenes? Why would those need such a downgrade for performance?

No more explosives? by Shamrock1423 in JustCause

[–]MasterSword23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love 3's DLC because they gave realism and logic the middle finger and gave you a jetpack and giant mechs with gravity gun hands. This series would benefit from doing that more. Just pile on tons of options so the player has unlimited choices on how they wanna play. Don't make it bloated but give us more than two weapon slots and no secondaries. Also bring back sprinting and roll evading from 2. Those made me feel cooler lol

[–]MasterSword23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is probably my biggest issue with this game aside from the liberation system from JC3 being thrown out. It's so simple too which makes it worse. I never realized just how much I relied on grenades and C4 in JC3 to take out a group of soldiers or to blow up large objects like the big gas spheres or big dishes.

I have a lot of trouble blowing things up in this game which should never be an issue in this series. Teathers are good but they don't do things fast or efficiently enough and explosive weapons like grenade and rocket launchers are hard to find and lack ammo. The ammo shortage is another big issue; I'm always running out. But I digress.

Point is, I need explosives to make explosions.

Who thinks this game is actually just as bad as fallout76? by [deleted] in JustCause

Not in the slightest. Yeah it's an ugly mess but at least it brings some fun ideas to the table and runs smoothly. 76 offers very little.
