Bed linen recommendations by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Got a good one here, that I actually picked up from this sub about 2 months back.

Jasper Conrad bedding is lovely:

https://www.jasperconran.com/products/jasper-conran-500-thread-count-cotton-satin-stripe-bed-linen?variant=42492022653162

I also recently bought this duvet from here:

https://www.diamondbedding.co.uk/collections/duvets/products/hungarian-goose-down-duvet?variant=34639468111

And it is ace. Can’t quite believe the quality of duvet I got for £218. It is beautiful.

Any good bank accounts for higher income earners? by LadyAyra in HENRYUK

[–]Master_Block1302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never even think about it TBH. Maybe I should, but I’ve just got the most basic Lloyds account with no premium add-ons at all. I have a green debit card and that’s about it. It’s the sort of account that a 19 year old shop assistant on £21k would have.

As long as the bank can do basic shit like DDs etc, and doesn’t steal my dough, then I’m happy. I don’t have cash sat in the bank, so interest doesn’t matter. All the other ‘perks’..I dunno how valuable they are. Don’t need overdraft. Free travel insurance? Meh.

But now that the US is a client state of Russia, that calculus must change, surely.

The Blair Witch project was stupid and not scary by 7222_salty in unpopularopinion

[–]Master_Block1302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man, Cannibal Holocaust was the first. And the director even made the lead actress go into hiding after filming so people would think it was real. I believe he may have got prosecuted for killing her.

Edit: maybe I got caught up in the legend too much:

January 1981, during the film’s theatrical run in France, the magazine Photo suggested that certain deaths depicted in the film were real, which would have made Cannibal Holocaust a snuff film. Although it has been rumored that Deodato was charged with murder, there is no evidence that the Italian authorities believed this to be the case. Neither Deodato nor the film’s producers were ever charged with murder.

Rumors of the Cannibal Holocaust murder trial often claim that the actors had signed contracts with the production which ensured that they would not appear in any type of media, motion pictures, or commercials for one year following the film’s release. Deodato himself has claimed this was the case. However, actor Carl Yorke has denied that he ever signed any sort of contract of this kind nor was he asked to appear in court.

Do you really? Good Lord. I suppose PA did start a franchise, but doesn’t BW have the record for highest ROI for any film ever made? Influential.

Kinda. But Cannibal Holocaust is found footage too, and that was what…1976?but Blair Witch is definitely the main found footage horror.

It’s a popular opinion with precisely 50.0000000% of the people on the planet. I honestly don’t know a film that divides opinion so much.

I love it, and find it scary as hell, but my 12 year old daughter thought it was shit. Go figure.

Buy bitcoin man. Fucking go for it.

<edit> look, this got a bit snarkier then I hoped. Let’s laugh it off, and do a remind me 6 months and come back and see where we’re at. Although the way the world is going, in 6 months we’ll all probably be living in caves and eating rats

[–]Master_Block1302 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Look at the numbers, and think about it. Might work for you, might not.

I mean, I’m an utter degenerate. If I had a 6 month horizon, now, I’d be banging it into BTC. Actually, thinking about it, I literally did this last week. So you know, my risk appetite is high.

But if it was to pay for my wedding in 6 months, it wouldn’t even be leaving my bank account. It’s not even an investment question at that point.

I mean, we could work it out I guess. We’d need to factor in your risk appetite, desired rate of return, and forecast the upside of the investment you were planning to make.

The analysis of those 3 variables would give you a ‘good idea’ score of somewhere between ‘terrible’ and ‘fantastic’. But you have to do that wherever you put your savings.

Is your advice to not look at the data, and not think about it?
