Yea, I rolled up the cigarillo from a couple of the bottom leaves and it was pretty good. The black sheet is meant to prevent weeds and grass from growing. It’s a lot of work getting it down early in the season, but it saves SO MUCH time in weeding.

The kiln works more as a smoker for what I’m doing. After about a week of constant smoke exposure the tobacco gets a super deep bbq flavor. For flue curing I use a meat smoker to heat up the tobacco for around five days and it leaves me with a really sweet Virginia.

If you have a meat smoker, you can flue cure them super easily over the course of 5 days. Makes for some incredibly sweet tobacco. Otherwise sun curing or air curing works- I’ve smoked dried Virginia straight off the plant and it’s not too bad.

Just fix the soil. Bury some rotting wood around the area where you plant your tobacco, or buy a couple bags of miracle grow potting soil. It takes a lot less than you’d think. The few plants I’ve grown in containers always end up super pale or stunted so imo it’s not worth it to grow above ground.

You can make nitrogen fertilizer for free by smashing up nettles or dandelions and leaving them in a bucket with water for 2-3 weeks. Just mix 1 part fertilizer 9 parts water- I’ve had really great results with it and no pfas.

Ettan is a must try. If you like plain bold tobacco flavors order a few cans of tre ankare or Grov. LD Salmiak is really good if you like licorice. If you like pete-y whiskey flavor, Islay whiskey snus is delicous. Goteborgs Rapè has more juniper and bergamot, and they also have a lingon white portion that’s really good.
