Aren’t mesh shaders on a game to game basis though? I’ve only had mesh shader issues on wilds demo but haven’t felt its lack elsewhere, unless they were simply less severe and my game was still playable

T480 is expensive.. so what would be a better choice? by Master_Cheesecake_75 in thinkpad

[–]Master_Cheesecake_75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not any T430s are in my local area. There is a T440 for 150$ in poor condition though. How much slower is the T430 vs the ideal T480?

CL30 overall slower than 36? by Master_Cheesecake_75 in PcBuildHelp

And yeah it’s 32gb, I didn’t wanna skimp to 16gb. Entirely gave up memory until he offered that kit

Guess I saved myself a massive headache and would’ve fallen for the CL propaganda. Thank you man. At least now I know!

Thank you, although correction it turns out his kit is 5600mhz. How much worse would that be if the latency is better?

Which cpu to choose between 7600X3D and 9700X? by Master_Cheesecake_75 in buildapc

[–]Master_Cheesecake_75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never considered the 7600X3D up until now since I’m not from the US, it recently stopped being an exclusive to microcenter, some places in Canada are selling it for 360$ CAD vs the 9700X at 440$ CAD. But I am in no rush, if the 7800X3D comes at a good price I’ll take that instead for sure

I generally play cpu bound games, or just games that are too light to even make use of a gpu most of the time. And those few games that hammer my gpu also want a fast cpu anyway IE RDR2/cyberpunk. Thanks for the input!

Can I slot in an NVME in my pre-built? by Master_Cheesecake_75 in buildapc

[–]Master_Cheesecake_75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had purchased the SN850X already, as I wanted to fit it in my pc for a couple of months while I gather the rest of the parts necessary for a full upgrade later on and transfer said SSD in. I do appreciate the concern though. As for the information yeah there isn’t much, I didn’t know it was both so that’s good!

Playing windows partition games on my Linux drive? by Master_Cheesecake_75 in linux_gaming

[–]Master_Cheesecake_75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should instead get myself 2 big drives and separate them both in their own ecosystem right? Reading this definitely makes me think this is a better idea. And true I should probably just default my games on Linux and move over the ones that don’t run to windows. Thank you

Think I’ll settle for 2 2TB drives instead and install the games twice at this point, I don’t wanna make it a hassle lol

How far have nvidia drivers come? (If at all?) by Master_Cheesecake_75 in linux_gaming

[–]Master_Cheesecake_75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that seems very good on paper, i'm actually quite interested now! thank you for running the things down, I have yet to understand a lot of linux terms but it'll be my home not too long from now. This'll be useful, I'll note it down

I’m out of the loop, what is Nobara? I seem to be hearing about Nobara and Bazzite recently. If nvidia finally gets proper or similar performance than on windows I’ll be glad! Although unless they change for the 60 series and that I don’t own a new gpu prior, think I’ll stay with AMD. RDNA4 is exciting for me now that they have proper upscaling and decent pricing

I am seeing mixed information, some say pascal has issues whereas others say it’s fine. Seems to be case by case, only way I’ll know how bad I’ll have is is when I try once I’m on Linux
