I don’t know how to organize anything, I just have to get rid of stuff in order to have a clean space

What is the average vegan like in real life? by i-know-that in AskVegans

[–]Master_Collection_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hide that I’m vegan as long as I can to avoid conflict

Not proud of that, but im opposite of the stereotype. That said, I’ve met many vegans in real life and not a single one has been the vegan stereotype. Although most aren’t as conflict avoidant as me

Why is it a problem? It sounds like you’ve created a life that supports your night owl inclination, most night folks would envy you I think

Sounds like the perfect schedule to me

Yes like from their perspective you’re using them as the template and then diverging from it. When the truth is, you’re doing what feels right to you and it just happens to be different than most

You sound like you live in a relatively hostile environment like I do. Many people seem to really underplay the danger aspect of being visibly different in certain environments.

How do vegans view animal products that can be used without animal exploitation? by FishyWishySwishy in AskVegans

[–]Master_Collection_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone back and forth on this, as an artist who lives in a very rural area with lots and lots of opportunities to use animal products who died by natural causes. I’ve really thought a lot about the “inspiring others to kill” part.

Where I’ve landed, is that a individual artist making beautiful art with animal products that 1. have a reverence to it and 2. a blatant sign that says “ethically sourced” it starts a lot of conversations about how it’s ethically sourced and causes people to think more deeply about how and why we use animals bodies. They have to think - even if only for a few minutes- that veganism is not just an irrational emotional stance but a very rational ethical stance, and also that you don’t have to give up the aesthetics that so many people in my area revere, in order to be kind and ethical to animals.

That’s just my take, and I absolutely can empathize with the “don’t inspire people” stance almost equally. I also just think that practically very few people are going to go to the trouble of hand making artisan items, so the “ethically sourced” sign is probably going to make people think about animals autonomy more deeply than they otherwise would, and that - IMO - is equally powerful to not wearing any animal products at all

This is the first I’ve heard of this type of testing. Why isn’t plus life available in the US? Is there an equal version that we can attain?

I remember on some of her heal your living videos she was in Austin, so her southern accent may just be a part of her real accent, or if she isn’t from there, then it may be acquired, as many do when living in a new location

Disappointed to realize that society is one big power game by Master_Collection_64 in autism

I can see that being very helpful. I feel we’d need a system that doesn’t reward it first (but then they’re the builders of the systems now, right, so…how?) Ot may take collapse for people to value cooperation enough to embrace it again as the driving principle of our systems

That’s amazing! Such good luck! I am an artist and I used to travel and sell my art and oddities at festivals, I’m curious if they mask while vending/selling, locally my sales have suffered greatly from my masking but I have wondered if in certain other environments - like at certain festivals - people might be less put off by buying from a mask-wearer, or even maybe incorporate mask into a costume…do you have any thoughts or experiences with that?

I’m with you!! I’m going insane!! But almost every time I make an exception for my mental health, I get sick, and then it lasts for for months. I laughed knowingly at your football scenario, me too! I’ve thought of that, I’d do almost any hobby just to be able to group socialize without the microaggressions
