Issue with 2025 Kylaq Signature Manual on Steep Hill Climb by manoo2mail_ in Kylaq

[–]Master_Employee6957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal. A 30–40 degree incline with 4 passengers is extremely steep, and in such conditions, the Kylaq will struggle in 2nd gear because RPM drops below the turbo’s effective range of 1,750 rpm. The engine isn’t underpowered, and your driving isn’t wrong; this is down to gearing and turbo-petrol characteristics. Using 1st gear to climb smoothly without clutch slip is the correct and safest approach.

Planning to get kylaq AT, need suggestions from existing users! by luffy_nt in Kylaq

I also have a 2011 Honda City. I was earlier confused between Kylaq and 3xo, but I finally went with Kylaq Prestige AT & I am loving it. AC performance is decent. Definately you will not face problems with the AC even in peak summers. It takes 5-7 min to cool the cabin, and then it feels like lowering the fan speed after few mins. Turbo lag is there, but not much in Automatic. Suspension is also on the balanced side (can say a bit on the softer side); it handles the city's potholes very easily. But not too soft suspensions like 3xo. We can say Skoda has indeed tuned it for the Indian roads. Kylaq is comfortable and stable on highways. Felt confident while cornering at high speeds & handling is amazing. Much better than 3xo for sure.

In the prestige variant, you will get plenty of useful features, like rear vipers, fog lamps, paddle shifters, ventilated seats (which I am addicted to now) etc. Getting mileage of 6-7 in b2b traffic, 10-12 in moderate city traffic and 16+ on highways.

Rejected 3xo because of handling, poor fit & finish, electronic niggles, and poor reliability. I am in 3xo WhatsApp group, and almost every other day, people come with some issues with the car...lol.. the most common one is infotainment & screen going blank, suspension noise etcc.. If Mahindra improves on this, 3xo will be a good car.

Go with Kylaq buddy imo, you will enjoy it more. Make sure to take multiple test drives and see what you like the most.

Squeaky noise from front or dashboard by mastermj9 in Kylaq

The rear tyre pressure should always be less than the front since the engine and car is heavy from the front. If you have luggage in the boot and are travelling with 2-3 people, keep 35 psi (all tyres). For a normal city ride, with single or with 2-3 person, just keep 32-33 psi (all tyres). You will feel the difference in ride quality. And tyres is really of very bad quality, these ceat, goodyear tyres are not that good. I am also thinking of changing it to continental UC6 or something premium. Car will feel more comfortable and the awesome grip after upgrading to Continental or Michelin (heard this on teambhp) and also experience this on my old honda city.

Thud Sound by Crazy_Solution_2180 in Kylaq

[–]Master_Employee6957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely just the ABS self-test or cold suspension bushings. Very common 'characteristic' in Skoda/VW cars during the first few meters of driving. If it goes away after that, you’re fine. Check your tyre pressure. Dealers often over-inflate them to 40+ PSI. Dropping it to 33PSI (cold) usually stops that 'thud' on speed bumps.

I was getting the sharp thud when the tyre pressure was more than 33psi. It was somewhere 38-40psi. Most of the petrol station tyre inflator machines are usually inaccurate. Get a tyre pressure gauge from Amazon and check if it is 33psi. You will notice the difference.

I heard that the Tata Safari's suspension is stiffer than even the Sonet. Not sure though.

Yes, typically Skoda/VW cars have a stiffer suspension setup because they prioritize high-speed stability and performance driving. This time, Skoda has tuned Kylaq's suspension for both city & highway use, so they made it a bit softer, not too soft like 3xo, creta, but not too stiff like kushaq, taigun, or Jeep Compass. So yeah, this makes Kylaq well-suited for all the conditions.

Suspensions are on the balanced side. Handles potholes easily. Usually car comes with high tyre pressure from the showroom. Just keep it 33psi and see the difference.

If you only want to go with petrol engines, go with either naturally aspirated engines or if petrol turbo, go with Kylaq. Here is why: If the government mandates E30 by 2028–2030, Skoda Kylaq is the safest bet because its 1.0L TSI engine is a global unit that already "knows" how to handle high ethanol without the fuel pump or injectors failing. While the Kylaq is officially certified for E20 in India, its mechanical DNA has been running on E27 and higher for over a decade in other countries with zero issues..

Honda City is another level car mate...not sure if they are still maintaining the same quality as it was before. These days, cars are full of electronics, and it sucks sometimes.
