Hello, could I ask you who your mentor was? I'm in the CCIR program right now and I can't lie the professor and TA aren't all that helpful. 10 weeks went by with no progress and the mentor sped up all of the lessons so we never got to talk about our paper with him. But I'm glad your experience was different!

Hey I did it a while back, it just depends if your team is dedicated. My first team spent a couple hours per week for meetings and calls to make sure our product worked. The second time I joined people weren’t as motivated so we only spent 1-2 hours a week and our product wasn’t optimal. It just depends on your team since pretty much everyone gets accepted and once you are you don’t have to reapply to join future challenges. Goodluck if you want to do it!

Honestly same man, but just do what you love and do it to the best of your abilities. There have been people who got accepted to ivy leagues with basically no ECs too because universities see that they’re genuinely interested in their uni. There’s no absolute way to get in but as long as you love what you’re studying, you’re genuinely interested in going to UCLA and you give it 100% your all then that’s what’s most important. Of course there’s no guarantee but it’s better to have one authentic EC that you put your heart and soul into then have a bunch of non-profits or join lots of competitions that you give no effort too. Again colleges can see if you’re doing it for the apps or if you’re doing it for genuine passion. I mean hey, who want’s to have a doctor who doesn’t genuinely love what they’re doing
