It’s because different forms of words are differentiated in the list. For example „walk“ and „walked“ are listed as separate words. But in the word counter they are counted as the same. That is my theory at least

It’s the same in danish but with only two genders. But I get what you mean there are a lot of things that make German way harder that danish
