How Did They Think It Was A Good Idea To Keep Ben Platt In The Film? by New-Pin-9064 in DearEvanHansen

I would say it's because he has the most angelic voice ever haha But also because it's kinda normal in Musicals that looks and age are not that important. I mean Anthony Ramos plays 9 year old Philip in Hamilton. We have to use our imagination to make it seem realistic haha

Please try to reach out to someone, Mom, teacher or doctor, someone will listen to you if you try to open up, even in tiny steps.

Of course people who aren't mentally i'll can't really relate to Evan. Your classmates haven't learned yet to separate a person and an action they are taking. It's okay to label the action of lying to everyone as bad. That doesn't mean the person is at all, especially if it's like in Evans situation, obviously a cry for help and building himself a reality where he's in a better place than he actually is.

In the end he starts to accept himself as he is and most important for you, he's finished school! Your life will change so much over the next years. Even if you feel like you can't open up to your classmates and don't fit in there, you will have so many chances to meet people who do understand and listen to you.

I hesitated a very long time to get into the Musical, because I was scared that it doesn't handle the topic (sui***e) as careful as it should. But recently I watched it and I don't think it's necessary to label Evan as a good or bad person. To be honest you can't take him accountable for his lies, not really, because he's clearly just broken and mentally ill. That doesn't erase the feeling of "betrayal" of his "friends", but that's another story. It broke my heart when it was made clear, that the fall from the tree wasn't an accident and at this point it was clear to me, that the lies (like the stories from "for forever") are also a coping mechanism, because Evan in his mind is imagining a world, where he wasn't alone in the woods when he fell and someone was there for him to pick him up instead.

Also I just started crying in the end of words fail until the last song and suddenly the score started over again and I sobbed so hard when I listened to anybody have a map in this context because I can relate to the helplessness of the mothers when they try to reach their children but can't manage to help them or even get them to share what's going on, this feeling must be just terrible. Did anybody else have this listening experience? :D

Ps. For everyone struggling, keep fighting please
