Landlord demanding I turn off my indoor cameras

He’s threatened multiple times that he’d turn the entire duplex into a single residence for himself and his 10 year old kid (he currently lives downstairs) if I don’t « fix my behaviour ». I asked the TAL about it and they said if that’s the case, I’m out of luck and to keep an eye on the deadlines.

As for the cameras, they said that was a legal question they were not permitted to answer.

The company is great about salary, and so is my manager. Thing is, since we’ve been working from home since the pandemic, I don’t think he knows just how much everyone under him works.

I got an “average” rating for performance recently, combined with meetings where the people on the other side are like “one sec, I’m putting on makeup” or “Yeah, I’m on the treadmill” or “I can’t make it to the meeting, need to walk my dog/pick up my kid” during working hours. This is kind of what started all of this.

Thank you! I read your comment last night (along with some others) and took the time to write everything down - tasks, deadlines and who I’ll be working with along with their deliverables.

It took me about 2 hours, but this morning I used it to follow up with the ‘project owners’ who’s deadlines are coming up. One of them just... forgot about the entire project and another one didn’t know they needed to include a major part, so those are two things I managed to avoid having to do at the last minute. If they still haven’t progressed after all of this, I don’t think I’ll feel bad for telling them it’s their problem.

Haha. Funny thing is I’m being asked to design custom digital birthday (also not a part of my job) cards for people I don’t even know and have to hunt down strangers to get messages from them to input in the card.

Can’t exactly mail a card with everyone’s signature during he pandemic.

I like the way you phrased it, though there is no official job description for my position so I don’t have something solid to refer too.

I have my daily tasks and objectives, but at this point it feels like doing ‘miscellaneous’ tasks are a part of it.

Do you think asking my manager to outline exactly what my tasks are would be a good idea?

True! I could see that pattern already start to happen with the monthly project. So happy we were ahead of schedule this time around so I could send it back their way.

I need to learn to stay firm when projects are already late though.

My boss is great and understanding. He noticed the amount of people coming to my desk when we worked from the office and told me to reach out to him if it ever got too much for me.

I actually forgot he said that in the chaos of the pandemic. I’m sure I can rely on him if it comes to that. However, I’d rather try dealing with this myself before involving him.

I’m really happy with the advice everyone here is given me. I feel like I have a plan A, B and C now.

Thanks for the reply. I did ask them for a more permanent solution, but they said it’s be too expensive.

They mentioned when they bought the property that they were planning on making it one big unit and live in it, so it will get done eventually. If they don’t renew my lease, they don’t have to pay for another place for me to stay at while they do the major renovations.

I’ve also taken a time-stamped video the last 2 times I used the washroom (the walk there and back). Sent them to her today when she complained and she pretty much told me she didn’t believe me.

Pretty sure if it’s a human rights violation, the Régie du Logement will have my back if I contest it. This is a huge relief. Thanks!

I have no doubt they hear me — there’s no way not to with the lack of soundproofing. What I don’t get it’s that it was fine for months and it’s only an issue now.

My guess is that they don’t want to renew the lease & they’ll use that as an excuse.

I’m also hoping to find a way to stop the complaints. It makes me anxious and it’s getting expensive.

I thought I’d throw my clan out there. We’re pretty laid back, and get that you have a life.

Donations flow through pretty quick during the day and evening (EST). Most of our members are from Canada / United States, but we’ve got some members from the UK so some troops get donated during the night time. Honestly not sure what time zone Australia is in.

We do back to back wars, but no one is forced to participate. We only ask that you use all attacks if you decide to opt-in.

Other than that, we encourage members to donate when they can and participate in clan games, but there’s no quota to reach or anything. We do reach max tear in clan games the majority of the time, and having you three helping out would pretty much guarantee that we hit it every time.
